I've had many meals at The Golden Fleece in the past, catered by The Prickly Pear. This was the first time that we tried the Sunday Roast dinner. We were not disappointed! I had the crispy 'pork belly', and my mate had the roast 'beef'. It was outstanding! We were both extremely impressed with the quality of the food! The gravy was the best I've ever had! I'm not sure what goes into it or how it's made, but it was fantastic!! The only downside was that I could have done with just a little bit more in the small jug that came on the plate. All the food served is vegan, which might put some people off. I'm lucky, in the sense that I can eat all 3 types, meat, vegetarian, and vegan food. My mate is a vegetarian, so whenever we have vegan, I can tell him if it tastes like 'meat' or not. I prefer to eat vegan food whenever I can, as the taste and flavours are so much better. I couldn't be a full-time vegan, too much time reading checking labels, etc, when shopping, but when I eat out, I always make a point of trying vegan. If there are any meat eaters reading this, please do try a vegan meal sometime. It opens up a whole new menu choice! If you want to try a vegan meal for the first time, what better place than the Golden Fleece on Mansfield Road. They've never failed to disappoint me...

The Fleece has been my go-to pub for a couple of years - good beer, great vegan food (obsessed with their seasoned fries that used to come with everything, sadly not anymore).

Unfortunately I take no pleasure in re-scoring my previous 5-star review, as over the last 6 months there has been a noticeable drop in food quality. I have kept going back, thinking the bad experience was just a one off, but sadly the last 3 times in particular have been quite disappointing. Soggy fries, insane levels of spice, thick-cut donner, undercooked veg - there just seems to be a lack of attention to detail that was there previously.

I say this in the hopes that things might get back to where they were previously, as I have loved this place and had their food A LOT. I'm going to give it a few months and then give it another go, hopefully things will have improved by then food-wise.

The beer and vibes continue to be...

Was very disappointed in the Sunday roast. Was just warm when it came out and the veg was basically raw. Ordered the cauliflower cheese which was also raw cauliflower and the sauce was very bland and no cheesiness to it at all. (Get some violife epic mature in it!) Ordered some carrots on the side and didn't think much of them. Just raw carrots basically.. So all in all the staff need training on how to cook the vegetables properly. I was so disappointed.. it's not often I get to go to a fully vegan pub. But I can't support them after this experience. I had to leave half of the meal which I've never done before. I just didn't enjoy it at all. The staff were friendly enough especially the bloke who brought out our meal from the...

Visited here on Friday for lunch with my sister. We're both vegan and have been wanting to come for ages. To say we were spoilt for choice would be an understatement. Took us ages to decide what to have. We opted for the Doner Party to share and loaded jerk fries. Absolutely delicious and clearly freshly cooked. Portions were very generous, too. Also noticed there were quite a few gluten-free options. Staff were really friendly too. Would 100% recommend any will definitely be returning!

I got the Donner kebab and garlic and thyme chips. The chips were banging and fresh. However, my kebab was cold but also burnt. There was more salad than kebab, leaving just a lot of leaves and cold bread. and I paid TWELVE QUID for such a disappointing meal. The door to the pub was wide open so it was absoloutely freezing. I used to love Prickly Pear’s food but it’s gone so downhill since it moved to this pub. I’m very sad :(
