A RAT!!!! ran out of the kitchen, they ran out of food, poor food hygiene, manager had a poor response and they didn't cater for disabilities.
We went to a £30 a ticket event to watch the fireworks and wish we didn't! The average customer was in the pensioner age range, but that didn't stop the management from running an extremely loud DJ set mostly consisting of dance and club anthems. Food was meant to be a buffet, but they ran out of food very early. There were at least 20 people in the queue behind us who didn't get fed. The manager initially didn't come out to respond despite his staff asking him to, but eventually we managed to corner him into a response. He kept saying that there was enough food (the kitchen were trying to cook chicken nuggets and chips) but the buffet tables were bare. No more sandwiches, salads and that kind of thing. The elderly lady behind us was coming out for the first time since COVID. She said she was promised a table but there were none to be had by the time we arrived. Many people who had food were having to eat off their laps. The manager eventually gave us a refund so we left to find food. I enjoyed the group of people haranguing him for their refunds! He kept insinuating that there was enough food and that everything was ok, while saying sorry - felt like he was trying to say it was our fault that we weren't enjoying the evening, yet he was the person in charge of it all. My parents stayed and said many more people got refunds and left. And then a RAT ran out of the kitchen!! They have reported the venue to the council.
So avoid this place like the plague. Even if they are ok at quieter times of the year, the manager and owner do not deserve your...
Read moreThe Corinthian is a quiet and exceptional stop for a coffee and cake when walking towards the Hoe along the Madeira Road footpath. Friendly bar staff with temperamental espresso bar for coffee. Delicious looking but few cakes available. From this vantage point you can survey the whole of Plymouth sound. Watching boat traffic of all types, paddle boards, sea canoes, jet skis to thru to multi masted yachts with spinnakers and out-boarded cats to fishing boats and ferries or ribs in and out of Sutton Harbour. We sat on the terrace looking out. We were delighted, sitting in the sun with the vista. Nice clean and uncluttered tables on the terrace. The terrace handrail obscures the view as it is exactly at eye level when sitting. The cappuccino and espresso coffee was a bit cool.. perhaps not using warmed cups from the machine top. I seem to have a single where expecting double espresso without sugar.. nice enough. Walnut and coffee cake a bit dry but tasty, blunted by the exception outward viewing action and lovely company. Thinking I could spend all day here sitting sipping coffee.. if only I'd had a no further things to do or a newspaper. Clean tidy toilets. Access corners and entrance slope probably difficult for wheelchairs...
Read moreWe recently had our wedding at The Corinthian Plymouth, and I can honestly say it was perfect from start to finish. As a couple who didn’t have much experience with wedding planning, we felt so supported every step of the way. The wedding planner, Monica, and the owner were absolutely incredible—attentive, knowledgeable, and so kind. They made us feel safe, looked after, and completely at ease throughout the process.
Monica deserves a special shout-out. She was an absolute star! Her professionalism, warmth, and expertise were second to none. She made everything feel effortless, kept us calm, and ensured the day went seamlessly. We truly couldn’t have done it without her.
The venue itself is simply breathtaking. The views overlooking the Plymouth Sound added such a magical touch to the day, creating the perfect backdrop for our ceremony and photos.
Everything went off without a hitch, and we couldn’t fault a single thing. The Corinthian Plymouth exceeded all of our expectations, and we’ll forever be grateful for the wonderful memories they helped us create. If you’re considering this venue for your wedding, don’t hesitate—you’ll be in...
