Today is my third visit to this pub in the past two months. 1st visit was as a result of reading the menu outside the front door. Prices seemed fair and with the menu on wall outside you don't have that nervous moment of going in, asking for a menu and having a drink before deciding if the venue is right for you. Able to set up a tab (card details taken as deposit) all fine. My order of the day was steak and ale pie. Pint of Inch's cider to accompany the meal. Really tasty dinner, lovely soft mash and mushy peas. Good plate size, with rich flavours. Extra gravy in accompanying pot, so no chance of having that dry meal. Thank you. 2nd visit - On Tuesday! Word of advice, this pub has a Very popular quiz on Tuesday's. All tables reserved for the quiz, so unfortunately with no seating available I decided to pass. Maybe the answer would be to book in for the quiz, (that leads to a table resevered) And then, order food. Just a tip to try. Dinner tonight - Wednesday. Once more at High standard for taste, quantity and value. Pie and mash again @ £9.95. I had wanted to try sharing platter (but have it for myself), three dishes. But the pretzel with beer cheese for dipping was sold out. That is why I went fo the pie. Overall, well worth stepping through the door to sample this pub, even if just for a pint. Place is warm and inviting. Staff keen to talk and ask Is there anything else I can do for you? Even putting kettle on to make a cup of coffee is not a problem for them. Time for lemon tart dessert now. Thanks for...

Read moreUp until today the bold forester was one of my favourite pubs in Portsmouth
Sat in the garden and ordered a beer on the app. After about 20+ minutes of waiting I walked inside to see what’s going on. I walked inside to see a flat pint of neck oil sat at the end of the bar with all the waste/empty glasses. I’d like to also add it was a busy Friday evening and a full bar was standing around it. At this point in my eyes the beer could have been tampered with and I do not want it. I said jokingly Is that the beer I ordered ages ago. I then got some big fella and woman very rudely and abruptly say. “Yeah that is your pint, YOU put the incorrect table number in” I then asked if I could have a fresh pint and the fella genuinely scoffed and laughed and said “I’m not pouring you a fresh one as you put in the wrong number”
After pulling up my receipt right in front of him on my phone, showing him I’m right and these pair of numptys are wrong he then persist to say “well my end says 121 not 114”. That my friend sounds like a bloody you issue.
Fair to say I won’t be returning and if that’s how you deal with your mistakes you need to...
