Bubble & Pho — Restaurant in Portsmouth

I've been looking for a pho to wow me having only tried it a few times and this one finally made it click.

Ordered as takeaway, was delivered by the restaurant carefully and attractively packaged with the broth seperate from the solid ingredients. The aroma that greeted me was becoming familiar, uniquely sweet and aromatic. There were seperate pots containing lemon and sliced chillies, a thoughtful touch for those who don't want heat. The only disappointment for me was the inclusion of lemon rather than lime, as I feel lime adds a lot more to the dish.

Needless to say the broth was delicious, with an abundance of noodles, tender beef, beansprouts, red onion and spring onion. Each slurp made me want to do a little dance. For me this dish is about the contrast of the flavour and the aroma. It smells sweet and herbal, but the taste is salty and deep. It's addictive and warming and I fully understand why it's so popular.

I also ordered the chilli oil and sriracha. I felt like the sriracha would be a bit much so didn't use it, but the chilli oil was earthy and really quite spicy and a few teaspoons completely changed the experience in a good, but different way.

All in all really impressed. I've tried other more popular pho in the area and this is the best so far. One of the higher rated restaurants I won't name was very disappointing...

Beef Pho Large size 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

This is really out of my expectation!! I thought it would be a normal portion won’t be too large, but turns out it was really full me up and I couldn’t finish the whole pho at all! Taste really good tho soup is very nice 👍🏻 and they have provided some spicy 🌶️ and lemon separately so it can depend on what you like to choose to add in the bowl or not. I add on some lemon juice to my pho and it tastes great and very refreshing. Love it 😍

Vietnamese spring rolls 🌟🌟🌟 Taste nice but not too crunchy. I thought it would be quite crispy outside cause it should be deep fried by the high temperature oil but it taste like softer than I thought.

Short rib 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 I can’t remember the whole name but I really remember it! Please give it a try and I am sure you will like it ✨ it looks spicy but it is not!! The texture is amazing and very juicy inside!

Restaurant is not very big but got enough seat and space for people to enjoy their food inside. You need to order the food from counter and do the payment first, once the food is ready and they will deliver it...

Went in for a late lunch with partner and toddler in tow. Seat yourself and order at counter affair, no highchair but bright orange chairs were robust enough for active toddler. Food came quickly and was freshly prepared - we ordered the chicken wings (falling off the bone delicious) slow cooked pork banh mi and chicken pho. Owner graciously provided an extra bowl for me to decant pho for toddler who ate really well. Also got a takeaway box for half the banh which was nice of them! Only gripe was I'm used to a plate of beansprouts and herbs served on the side to be added to your own taste so was disappointed with the rather skimpy herb and lots of beansprouts already in the bowl but I still finished the...
