Very small and noisy place with inordinately excessive wait time for food. We had called a few hours in advance and booked a table for two adults and two children - got there on time only to find that there was no clean table available for us. Staff cleaned one and then took a good few minutes getting us all four chairs that we needed, basic and not very comfortable too. When the last one finally arrived, I joked that we could all sit down now. The man who brought the last chair retorted ‘well you’re lucky to get a table.’ Our order was taken shortly afterwards but we had to then wait for an hour just for our starters to arrive. Main course followed. Food quality was reasonable - no better than you would get at any standard Turkish restaurant, plates way too small and rice portion quite a joke as it was way too insufficient for four people. Main course was served without serving spoons. We were told (by the same gentleman who had told us that we were lucky to get a table) that we would get them only if we asked for them. This was our first family visit to Portsmouth. My advice to people would be to look for a better place if you’re in the mood for...
Read moreWe booked a table for five ahead of time and were seated immediately. Walking in past the open coals grilling meat and vegetables and the wonderful smell accompanying this made us all instantly hungry.
When seated, we were given olives, warm bread and asked if we wanted drinks. The bread and olives were wonderful and we mopped them up instantly. We ordered two mixed meze for starters and each went for the mixed grill for mains. The portions were generous, the chicken wings and lamb were outstanding, with the chicken breast being a touch dry and the adana having a feint floral taste which wasn't for me, though I scoffed it regardless. The meze was nice, from what I recall we had an excellent humus, tzatziki (or something close) and eggplant dish, with a few more dips being on the plate.
All in all pretty great, there was a minimum card spend of £15, but for a dinner that was fine. We each shared two starters, had the mixed grill and had three alcoholic drinks each and paid £28 each which is...
Read moreMy wife and I travelled from France for a short break to see the Mary Rose. As my wife is vegetarian, choosing a restaurant can be hard, so we like to read reviews and book ahead. We chose the Nemrut for its widely vegetarian choice and interesting menu. Three friends decided to join us, driving down from Kent for the evening.
Outside the place looked modern and fresh, if a bit small. Inside we were greeted by a charming young woman who made our evening quite special. She made recommendation to us that were delicious and exploding with taste. We were probably too noisy for the other customers, but found the whole experience enjoyable.
We would go back with pleasure and our friends said the drive was well worth it. Turkish could be our new...
