I really wish I liked this place as vegan/veggie restaurants should get bigger support! But everything for me was wrong. The place is cute and has just great space for small groups and if you're working in location. So the smoothies with the baobab and blueberries was watery, it didn't really have a flavour, it was one not and just not very well made. A bit more yogurt and less water/milk would have helped this.
The Mac and cheese was a solid no. Lacked depth and cheesiness, again watery and it was leuk warm. There was also 0 salt which added emphasis to the water.
My bagel was probably the biggest disappointment of them all. Firstly only filled stacked on one bagel and the other one was felt dry (neither side even buttered, toasted, seasoned nothing) until I added hot sauce again all I could taste was unseasoned filling especially the softer than expected imitation sausage. I could go on but you get the gist, I kept trying to find things to redeem it and only found what I found. My partner said his coffee was great and bagel was ok (this was a special on the menu).
I just always think if you're going to do veggie/vegan food the flavour have to really be done well. Like The Temple of Seitan in London's Mac and cheese or The Cartwheels in Nottingham's Bagel/general brunches. Just needs some elevation but...
Read moreWent in yesterday, and to say the service was bad is an understatement. The boy behind the counter was chatting to the people in front about the Victorious festival for a good 5 minutes. I sighed loudly eventually and they moved out the way so I could order. A cappuccino. Should have been easy enough in a coffee shop. I asked if there was seating down the steps and he disdainfully answered that yes there was - like I was supposed to know. I sat down to read, and after 10 minutes thought my coffee should have arrived, so went to ask. As I put my head round the corner, he stopped leaning on the side and started playing with the coffee machine. To my question of 'is it coming?' He simply replied yes. The coffee took another 5 minutes to arrive (probably the time it should have taken, instead of 15) - the place was not busy, at most 6 other people and only one came in after me, everyone else was already sat down drinking. Took a sip of this coffee that had a pretty pattern all over the top (well done him) and realised the beans were burnt. The woman at the table next to me had some food that looked nice. Guess that's something. Won't...
Read morePopped in for brunch after visiting a few times for coffee. Love the styling of this place, right up my street, it has an industrial type of feel but comfortable and chilled at the same time.
We ordered our food at the counter and sat out the back which has what looks like (I didn't play there, wasn't allowed) a great play spot for accompanying kids - toys, games and a chalk board! Mum's; would keep the kids quiet for ages.
Our food arrived shortly after our drinks. I ordered the Stack which consisted of a spinach, sweet potato and onion type hash with a nice flavour, topped with a very well cooked poached egg. I opted for the grilled haloumi on the side which ended up being a great choice. The dish was well present and all fresh.
All that was washed down with a couple of tasty coffees and complimentary water. We'd have sampled some of the tasty looking cakes but we had another meal to attend in a matter of hours.
Will be visiting again, mainly to try some of the other food. Hunter Gatherer offers a lot of gluten free and...
