Usually I am a fan of the Cosy Club chain after visiting Ipswich and hearing rave reviews about the one in Bristol. Unfortunately this was a very overpriced badly cooked meal out. The experience began when we turned up without a booking and had to wait 30 minutes for a table - I understand this restaurant is quite busy due to being in a shopping outlet. Once we arrived back to the restaurant we had to wait a further 15 minutes for someone to find us a table. Menu is quite overpriced for the area - £14.25 for fried chicken, chips and a bit of veg. Even London is cheaper.
The starters were decent portion sizes and quite nice but again overpriced - £6.50 for a couple slices of halloumi? I was quite disappointed with my main course - the fried chicken tasted dry, was overcooked and a bit burnt and literally the tiniest piece of chicken I've ever seen served. It felt as if they just used the same chicken that they would put in a burger. The slaw was just two spoons and I had to incur an extra fee for swapping out fries for the herby new potatoes side. Service was quite bad - waiters rushing around but not providing a service. I pointed this out at the end when we received the bill and whilst I am thankful for the drink, side of potatoes and one start being dropped from the bill the food was disappointing. Our waiter could not apologise and instead tried to blame me that I did not speak up sooner when we were never asked if we were OK with the food.
To anyone wanting to visit this restaurant, please trust the reviews which say that food is tiny and overpriced, it is a common theme.
UPDATE TO OWNER - If you read my review properly then you would see that I was very frustrated with the quality of the main AS WELL as the quantity. Unfortunately you are the worst Cosy Club branch I have ever visited and I will not be...
Read moreReally enjoyed our visit to the cosy club for the first 2 hours of our visit. Having worked in hospitality for a number of years and the cosy club advertising itself as a family friendly restaurant, we thought it would be the perfect place to meet with friends. We came with an autistic child which is always difficult as we are always very conscious of the way people perceive us. Our son sat in his high chair for the best part of our visit, playing with toys and his tablet. At 4pm when the establishment emptied, he was getting restless so as he was becoming louder, we allowed him to get out of the highchair to keep him calm. He was in no way misbehaved. He sat under our own table for a time at which point a waiter came and took an order. He did not look up from his order pad and when we tried to have a joke with him he ignored us. It was so obvious that we all commented when we left. After this point, our son got up and sat at a different table, there was nobody near him, he was quiet and causing nobody any bother, at one point he picked up a glass, I told him off and took him out of the situation. I was very conscious that I didn't want him to disrupt anybody. Upon leaving after spending nearly £300 on a meal, I said thank you to the chap at the door and said that I was disappointed with the treatment from the waiter to which he responded 'I don't blame him'. I was deeply hurt by this response as we seldom go out because it's hard work for us but on this occasion I felt our son had been really well behaved and we had frequented a family establishment. I had in fact told the staff he was autistic on arrival. I feel very unhappy with the service we received. I feel we have been treated appallingly and wouldn't wish this experience on anyone else. Neuro diverse people stay away as this is far from an inclusive...
Read moreVery Disappointed – Poor Service & Misleading Charges
I had a terrible experience at Cosy Club yesterday afternoon that completely ruined my outing. My friend and I ordered a cocktail, a mocktail (Pineapple Colada), and a dessert. When we asked the server if there were any offers or happy hour deals, we were told there were none.
The dessert was fine, but the drinks were a different story. My mocktail came in a tiny whiskey glass, filled mostly with ice, and it was incredibly bitter. I took two small sips and immediately went to the staff to mention the issue, expecting at least a polite response or a replacement offer. Instead, I was met with rudeness and arrogance from a staff member or manager who told me, “You’ve had half already,” which was completely untrue. The drink was hardly touched, and their attitude was unacceptable.
When the bill came, the bitter mocktail was still included. I asked for it to be removed, but again they refused. As someone working with Gunwharf, I also asked for the staff discount (which I’m entitled to). They split the bill in a confusing way, applied a minor discount to only part of it, and then added an unexplained extra charge of £5. When we asked about it, we were given unclear and inconsistent reasons about “tea time” charges – which made no sense.
Overall, the staff lacked professionalism, the service was rude, and I left feeling cheated. There was no courtesy, no willingness to resolve a genuine customer issue, and no accountability.
I would not recommend this Cosy Club to anyone. If you’re looking for good service and fair treatment, this is not the place. Very...
