Myself, husband and 1 year old went to Wagamamas in Portsmouth yesterday 29th May 2022. When we got to the restaurant it was busy but only 2 people ahead. When it was our turn to be seated after waiting 15 minutes we was told they are not seating anyone at the moment as they want to keep up with kitchen and then seat customers. After 10 minutes of waiting on top of my 15 minutes we was told that we have to wait as they have no seats for purchase and people that came after us will be seated first. I felt this firstly was discriminatory towards us cause we had a pushchair and customers that came after us didn’t. So they went ahead and seated the customer. 5 minutes later the lady came back and took another couple that came after us. At this point we’re not being asked or even spoken to, I then looked where that couple was seated and they were placed on the edge of the table which we could have really got. I then asked that lady why were having to wait and why we couldn’t take that seat as it was on the edge. She explained it was on the walk way and the only seats we could have are the ones near the window side which are made for pushchairs. I explained how it’s rude to not explain that to us and unfair just cause we have a pushchair we now have to wait for those seats and the people sitting at those seats have not even been given food yet. She said she can’t say how long it will be but we will have to wait and others will go ahead of us, at this point a very rude staff member (seemed Eastern European but as I didn’t take his name that’s all I can deceive him as.) he started explaining the situation but he didn’t seem apologetic or understanding to me and the situation. He ended the conversation and might I add I am a British Pakistani woman, he ended the conversation with ‘IF YOU PEOPLE ARE NOT HAPPY BY WAITING THEN YIU CAN LEAVE’. I was extremely taken back by this and asked him if he thought that’s great customer service and what he meant by ‘You people’. He didn’t answer my questions regarding ‘you people’ but he repeated it by saying ‘If you are not happy in waiting then you can leave’.
Me & my husband come to Wagamama quite often and we’ve never been treated like this before. I really upset and taken back by what happened at your restaurant and I don’t personally feel like going back as I don’t feel ‘us people are welcome at this place.
I’m really upset by this service and want to bring this to the attention of someone senior as...
Read moreMet a friend here for lunch, been to Wagamama's before so I know the deal with how food arrives etc.
We sit down, just the two of us and order as normal. Friend's food comes out but mine does not, nothing unusual. Once my friend was half way through their meal, I chased mine as still had not arrived. 2 minutes I was told.
My friend finished her meal before mine had even left the kitchen, a good 20 minutes or so. On top of this a table next to us had been seated, ordered and were all eating, obviously my meal had been lost, forgotten or something else. I asked another server to cancel my meal, and then within a minute it arrived at the table.
Moment was gone and we needed to get on so I told them to take it away, the server was insistent on giving me my meal until a (I assume) manager stepped in and said to take it away. Tried to tell me that the kitchen is busy at different times and this is why food comes out at different times - I get this, but not 20 minutes difference.
I told them it was a human error and they should hold their hands up and acknowledge this, which this individual would not and insisted this is how they operate. No offer of apology or conversation on how to resolve, but did take my meal off the bill (the meal I cancelled).
Customer services needs further training on resolution, whilst the kitchen need better alignment on getting food out (at least) at...
Read moreWe were meeting family in Portsmouth and my daughter suggested we eat at Wagamama. I'm sure I've eaten at another outlet some time ago and didn't have bad memories. This was not a good experience. We set up two different accounts so each family could pay separately. We ordered drinks for all 10 of us and the 4 children ordered their meals, because you have to. I am one of those unusual people who doesn't like chili, the smallest amount leaves me with a numb mouth unable to taste anything else. I had read all the adult meals and every one of them mentioned chili, I focused on what I hoped was the mildest. It was a curry, but it said it was coconut based with a hint (my words) of chili. After a couple of mouthfuls I knew I wouldn't be able to finish the meal, it was far too hot for me. If you like chilli heat then I am sure there will be plenty of meals that you will like, but for those of us who struggle with that type of food there was nothing on the menu that we could eat. It didn't help that the drinks and children's meals for our family didn't arrive and we had to chase them a number of times and then when we ordered the ice cream that went with the children's meals one of them didn't arrive and we had to...
