Cafe Nero - Gunwharf As a regular visitor of this particular branch (mostly once a week), I was quite taken aback by the rudeness of a member of staff today, unnecessary rudeness. Waiting patiently in line with my mum, a good amount away from the serving station where the server was still completing an order, the first words spoken by this member of staff to us was ‘I am in middle of serving someone else’ in an aggressive tone with eye brows raised when she turned round as if we were in the way of her serving. Moving an inch to the left as the growing queue behind us did not allow us to do more, we continued to wait, shocked by the manner in which we were spoken to. Following this we placed our order, no greetings, manners or politeness by the server shared. On paying, my mum held up her rewards app to scan to which the server aggressively again went ‘I’m not ready for that yet’. We have not experienced this before and maybe this is a one off, but as a member of staff expected to interact with customers as part of their role it’s not acceptable. I’m writing to complain about the uncomfortably cold temperature in your Gunwharf Quays branch in Portsmouth. I visited on [add date], planning to sit down with a drink and use the internet to study. But I had to leave early because it was absolutely freezing inside.

The staff were clearly too warm and decided to cool the place down for themselves, even though they’re not working in a kitchen where it’s 40–50 degrees. Meanwhile, customers like me were left sitting there feeling like frozen chickens. It was impossible to relax or focus on anything.

As someone who paid for a drink and came in expecting a decent environment, this was frustrating and unacceptable. I won't be returning unless the place becomes comfortable for...

The two young girls there were TERRIBLE!! Chatted about opening hours, did my shot of coffee then left in it the cup for genuinely about five minutes whilst standing right in front of us discussing timetables and asking if she can go home early. I literally ordered two flat whites and it took ten minutes. The young blonde one took great pleasure in discussing how boys chase after her, how she loves to go clubbing, and how ‘she’s so not happy to be at work’. Honestly the worst customer service I have ever experienced. It is beyond me how these people got employed, let alone how the brunette was a manager.
