Went in for lunch today, was very surprised how much there was in a meal - the sides are a lot more filling than I'd thought. We had expected for the price (given how much food costs these days) it would be a lunch snack, but it really was a full meal!
So I cannot fault the value for money, and I definitely can't fault the food! Great selection, cooked perfectly. The chilli peas were a real surprise. The mash, if taken on its own, is a bit standard, but I found that if you mix it with the gravy or liquor it goes down a treat. Speaking of which, kudos for doing the gravy at the right consistency! No ice or garnish. Asked for ice but later they said they had none so they had to go and buy some. I’m assuming they had no ice for a while as others sat down had no ice in their drinks. Partner ordered Asahi beer which was £6.50 a pint. Bottle of cider was £5.25 which I felt was a bit steep. I wouldn’t say it’s value for money compared to other pie places in the area however there is a large range of pie choices. Some of the pie choices and pizza were not available which is strange after an hour of opening. The seating in here felt very cramped. If you are a larger table I would book ahead. No one asked about allergies or how the meal was. Cutlery was served after the meal was with only one thin napkin for two people. I would say okay but would not...
