Angel Bar & Supper Club - Caversham - Reading — Restaurant in Reading

My only experience so far has been a Monday afternoon, for coffee and cake. To be honest, I am not into 'coffee culture', as I cannot get my head around people willing to pay such an inflated price. I am pleased to say, Tipsy Bean charge a fair price. I have found some 'speciality' coffee way too strong, and to me, not that pleasant. For me, my Americano was perfect, smooth and palatable. They also had Almond milk for those with lactose intolerance. The portion of cake wasn't large, but reasonable, as was the price. My wife enjoyed the Coffee cake, and I enjoyed the Carrot. Both were fresh and moist. The other big bonus for us is that they are dog friendly. Giving our pup a bowl of water and a dog treat. It was quiet when we got there, mid afternoon. I believe they have free WiFi, and somebody was near the back on a laptop. The front two tables are by the windows, which are nice and bright, but the seating gets progressively darker the further you go back, as there is less natural light. I understand there is NO hot food, only serving cold platters, sandwiches and wraps etc. If it helps, a friend had a Halloumi wrap on a previous visit, and said it was very nice. I just want to say a massive thank you to Meena and all of the staff at Angel Bar Caversham. They hosted my 40th birthday party on Saturday, we hired the venue exclusively and they managed everything effortlessly. We started the night earlier at 6 pm and had a smaller kiddies party first before carrying on into the night with the adults! The venue and setup works beautifully, the staff are so helpful and Meena is great in recommending local businesses and supporting them to ensure your night runs a smoothly as possible! One thing that was really worrying for me would be allergies, as quite a few of my guests had allergies or food requirements and I sent all of these to Meena, who was able to make up special platters for them and cater to everyone’s dietary requirements; including vegan, gluten-free, dairy free, so this was amazing! The Angel Bar in Caversham is an absolute gem! From the moment we arrived, the owner was incredibly friendly and welcoming, making us feel right at home—even with young children in tow. It was so refreshing to find a place where kids are genuinely welcomed (until 7pm), and the relaxed, family-friendly atmosphere made the experience all the more enjoyable.

We were so comfortable during our visit, and the thoughtful touches made all the difference. The kids were thrilled to have babyccinos made just for them, while we enjoyed a lovely drink in peace—a rare treat for parents! The parking was also super convenient, which made everything so easy for us.
