Geo Cafe — Restaurant in Reading

I came here hoping for a relaxing cup of Earl Grey, but sadly the experience was very disappointing.

When I arrived, the café already seemed understaffed. Dirty dishes and empty cups were left on most of the tables, so I ended up moving them myself just to sit down. I wasn’t given a teapot for my tea, which meant I had to keep asking for refills. Despite me helping clear things, no one acknowledged or thanked me.

Things only got worse when the owner arrived around 3pm. She immediately began micromanaging the staff in front of customers, which made the atmosphere feel tense. She also came in with her dog, which barked aggressively at mine. Instead of apologising for her dog’s behaviour, she yelled at me to put mine on a lead which i did. From that point on, she kept coming over to interrupt me while I was quietly reading and having tea, even telling me I wasn’t allowed to work in the café and handing me a note about it.

Rather than creating a welcoming environment, she made me feel singled out and uncomfortable, while openly blaming me for her dog’s aggression. It was embarrassing to witness and very off-putting.

Between the lack of customer service, the mess, and the unprofessional behaviour of the owner, I cannot recommend this place. A café should be somewhere to relax, not a place where the owner’s dog barks at customers and the staff are micromanaged in front...

I ordered a khatchapuri online to pick up the next day. When I came to the cafe, there was an absolute mess with the stuff and I was sent from one person to another. Finally, one lady spoke to me, but in a rush and she clearly could not wait for me to leave. I was told that the khatchapuri is not baked, but oven-ready. Fine, I can bake it at home, just give it to me? Then I was told that my order didn't come through and they don't have it. Okay, give me a refund then? No, they can't give me a refund right now, I will have to wait for them to do it later. Sounds like a complete scam. I already started disputing the transaction with my bank, as I'm not sure they care about clients at all and will bother...

2024: so we gave this place another chance today and I will say I was wrong. The racist lady isn’t there anymore and we were served by extremely nice young girlies who were lovely to interact with. Food is 10/10 and atmosphere is cute and cosy💕🩷 never say never I guess

2022 review: Went there with my mum dad and sister who are visiting reading. I’ve been there before and no problem. We were served by a middle aged brunette who was extremely rude. She only had a problem with my mum who is a hijabi. My mum asked if we can have extra cutlery and she gave her a whole lecture about how staff get abused by customers???
