Hi my previous star rating saved before I could complete it. I meant to explain the reason for my stars. The pub is a nice pub with a good atmosphere and the staff are helpful and friendly. Unfortunately we booked a table for a Christmas get together with a few friends and were asked for a £40 deposit that would come off the food bill. When we came to the pub and went to order we had to order from the app. however on the app you have we had to pay for the food at time of order and were advised there was no way to deduct the deposit from the food order as the app and the till system are not linked. We were then advised that we could use the deposit for drinks but unfortunately we had already bought £30 worth of drinks. As we were unable to get refund on the deposit my mates were forced (not exactly by gun point) to drink another £40 worth of booze. Although a bit of a first world problem it was none the less frustrating.
Another minor personal annoyances is that I just want to buy able to buy a whole meal. The food when it arrived was of good quality and tasty but if I go to a pub or restaurant I would like the main part of the meal to come with a side and garnish as a complete meal and preferably on its own plate rather than have to peel my burger of a tray :-) . I am not that old but I remember a time when in pubs and restaurants if you ordered a burger you got chips, salad and coleslaw with it rather than the budget airline model of making stuff you should have an extra cost. For example I ordered the Big D burger £10.50 and added Rosemary chips £3.50 Coleslaw £3.50. Just call if 15 quid and put it on a plate. Easy. That said these are definitely 1st world problems and as I write this I am having a proper word with myself about whether to hit the post button but this is Caversham darling. I appreciate that hospitality is surviving under tough conditions so hope this review is taken in the right context. Keep up the great work and stay safe and I am sure I will be back for a 5 star service in the future....

Read moreLike the previous reviewer I also visited The Last Crumb one evening with a friend, as I have done many times in the past, but two weeks later I received a notification from one of those dodgy private parking companies saying I hadn't obtained a permit to park in the pub car park. I have never had to get a permit in the past to park there, or in fact in any other pub car park I've ever visited. The staff made no mention of it, and although they say there were signs "everywhere", seeing as the pub was full for Quiz Night, I didn't notice any and neither did my friend who is a regular there. Having written to the pub I eventually received a fairly snotty reply saying that it was nothing to do with them and I'd have to contact the parking enforcement company directly. However, as the parking company are hired by the pub then The Last Crumb/Dodo Pub Co. certainly could contact them if they wanted to, to cancel the ticket, but they clearly can't be bothered to help out a genuine customer who has spent a good amount of money with them in the past. These parking companies don't have a legal leg to stand on and are nothing but bullies, so I will now be appealing, but it's a complete waste of my time when I have done absolutely nothing wrong. A real shame as I liked this place before, but won't be returning, or going to any Dodo Pub Co...
