We booked a table last Sunday to try the roast, and it was easily one of the best pubs I've tried in Glasgow. The space is clean, newly renovated, and decorated elegantly and with attention to detail, and all the tables are adorned with candles and fresh flowers. The staff is very friendly and goes above and beyond, I wish I had asked our waiter's name to mention it here. Everything we tried was delicious, from the beef Sunday roast and the meat pie, to the potatoes au gratin and even the cheesy cauliflower. My sister is now coming to visit and I've already booked us table for this weekend!

I just came here for a pint on my way to Kelvingrove Museum. I ordered an IPA which tasted like pine-tar soaked in flat piss. It was really quite awful. However, the interior of the place is gorgeous and the music was fantastic. I thoroughly enjoyed contemplating how best to sneakily pour the beer back into the bar area without alerting the mustachioed bartender who was fussing about different bottles and glasses for no reason that I could discern. But having said that, my vision had been blurred by the 6 pints I'd already had on my way to this pub.

This is a very good pub with great decor and atmosphere. However, in the six months since I last visited, it has declined as it has tried to accommodate the hipster crowd (unsuccessfully, I'd say). On my last visit, the staff were nice but not attentive and the young lady behind the bar seemed to be working at her own pace, even though the bar was quiet. Six months ago, I gave The Griffin five stars. It's four now. I'm also not convinced by the quality of some of their new beers. But the hash with black pudding and pulled pork was nice.

I have never felt more angry regarding the treatment of my friends who arrived in this establishment ahead of the rest of the group. After two alcoholic drinks each they were told they were not being served any more alcohol as they had enough..! Neither ladies, in their 50’s had any alcohol before entering the premises. Extremely offended and embarrassed is an understatement. The deputy assistant manager made the call and would not change the decision which was totally baseless. Had we been able to get food somewhere else we would have left however decided to have the food as planned prior to our theatre event. Wish I hadn’t bothered, the food was mediocre and hand cut chips looked and tasted like they had been reheated numerous times. ...

Would never return to this bar. Absolutely appalling service. Asked the bar man for a Brockman's gin (which I was given without question around 3 hours before, prior to the show in the king's theatre) he looked at me with a blank expression, wandered around the bar then said "we don't have that" I explained I'd had it just a few hours earlier and explained what flavour the gin is. "We don't have it and that's it" was his reply whilst shoving a menu into my hand. I explained it's a berry flavoured gin and he said whilst sniggering "yes we have lots of flavoured Gina and we don't have that one!" His whole attitude and tone was a disgrace! I left immediately after being...

I really liked this Pub. Not only was the atmosphere very friendly, the music low key and the staff lovely, the food was exceptional as well. So much so that we returned no less than three times during our stay in Glasgow even though we had a wide variety of other Pubs to choose from. It is full of locals thus avoids any touristy vibe while I liked very much. And for those who require it, there were many gluten free options available that are more than just an after thought but delicious. If you are in town and fancy a pint of beer from Isle of Sky, this is the place. Oh, and the Sunday Roast of beef.... it brought a tear of joy to this...
