After having come across this place on Google, read the mostly good reviews and looked at their Instagram, I was really looking forward to it and hoping for great things. I guess it didn't bode well as whilst we were waiting for a table to be cleaned to sit down, the chef seemed to be getting quite irritated (unless he is always like this) that he was calling service and no one was coming to collect the dishes and take them to the tables. We were asked if we were ready to order almost as soon as we sat down. Obviously we weren't, but then it was a good 10-15 minutes before someone did come back and take our order for food. In this time the café which had been very busy when we arrived, had emptied quite a bit so it wasn't as if they couldn't see us, but it wasn't easy to catch anyone's eye. My quiche and salad was pleasant. My companion had the soup and was asked if he wanted creme fraiche with it. He said no, but it arrived with it anyway. At this point everything had taken so long we saw little point in saying anything. The cakes all looked delicious. I had the pear and ginger crumble slice. It was disappointing, being quite dry and stodgy. And the taps made out of copper piping in the bathroom are really silly. Disappointing

Underwhelming experience. The place looked really nice from the outside, the interior decoration was also very nice and trendy, the food smelled good so we had good hopes for this place. However upon arriving we were met with a very haughty and cold waitress. She let us know we had to leave at 12h15 (an hour after we arrived approprimately) and didn't look pleased with us choosing to eat still. If it had ended there it would've ok, but even our plates disappointed us. First of all, the dishes were really good, good execution and technique, but the portions were quite small compared to what we're used to for a Scottish/British breakfast, which given the price (around £14) felt like quite a rip-off. Secondly, an item was missing from both my friend and I's plate, which didn't help either. Luckily, when we told another waitress (more professional than her former colleague), she offered some compensation, but she didn't seem to be too surprised ? All in all, a trendy place that certainly must've lost a bit of quality with fame (that or it was just a bad day). Would not really recommend...

I had the Sweet Potato Cake which made the trip to Glasgow worthwhile and has me drooling for another visit. The ginger beer was also a winner with a nice kick to it. Left with the millionaires slice which was well worth the guilt. Service overall was very good. The seating policy was weird for an after 3pm visit: I was told I could only sit at a table for 2 as a sole diner despite the fact that there were at least three empty tables for 4. Not really a big deal, except the table I was given was in a thoroughfare and the waiters and customers kept passing and knocking me time after time. Even though I moved the chair I had to sit on an angle to avoid the constant contact. A small thing, but annoying nonetheless. (To add insult to injury, after I arrived the tables almost completely emptied and when I was almost done a couple arrived who were promptly seated at a table for 4 🤷‍♀️)

Kate ruined the experience.

I went for the first time to Singl-End in Garnethill. Initially, we booked for 12:30pm but ended up cancelling and re-booking as I wasn’t going to make it to the first one. Upon arrival, Kate was being nice and serving customers before us. And our turn came, she became so condescending and immediately started saying we are late and we cannot come back until much later. She was unprofessional and unaware that we had a 2nd booking for later. I was shocked at the customer service level. Snarky and rude. I went out to get the rest of my family and came back in only to speak to Paul, which was really nice, he spoke to us with manners and valued us as customers. We left and came back to our 2nd booking and sat outside. And due to unprecedented events, it started raining. I asked my brother to go inside and ask to see if it’s possible to sit inside. And for his bad luck, it was Kate that spoke to him. She told him that if he wants indoor sitting he’ll have to wait 1.5-2hrs and made him feel so bad with her tone of voice and attitude that he came back and said that he’s never going back inside. I then asked someone to take my order, and again, for my bad bad bad luck kate came back out. We asked again kindly if it’s possible to sit inside, she immediately started attacking with ‘YOU CAME LATE’ and etc etc. At that moment I asked for Paul and told her to leave me and my family alone. I hated that experience so much that I ended up leaving.

I don’t know why she behaved that way. We look a little different as we are Muslim but that’s not any excuse to treat us differently. I am so shocked at this experience and best believe I am never going back and will speak out about the racial discrimination in...

WOW, found this place as we were looking to grab a late breakfast. It was a bit of a walk but I'm so happy we found it. Set underneath an antique restoration shop this quirky off beat restaurant/cafe does EVERYTHING right. The decor is very niche, exposed brick, pipes etc adds to the charm. The staff were really friendly and the atmosphere was very relaxed. It was about 3pm and I was hankering a brekkie, I ordered "the meaty", and this is the good part, this is not a greasy spoon or pub breakfast, this was a plate of absolute joy. Homemade sausages that were off the charts, home baked beans, perfectly cooked streaky bacon, Stornoway black pudding, probably the best scrambled eggs I have ever tasted, grilled tomato and a slice of toasted sourdough the size of a small surf board. This place exceeded my expectations and then some. I can honestly say this is a hidden gem that has set a new benchmark in my books. I eat out a lot and I will return here over and over again. There are so many items on the menu I want to try. As well as the main menu, they have daily specials and very nice selection of home baked cakes, biscuits etc. I really can't express how impressed I was. They really care about their food here, it's not just fryer to plate, you can tell they enjoy what they're doing.

Only bad points are, it's not close enough to where I live so I can't go every day. And now I know every breakfast I eat out is gonna be a let down because I honestly think the one I had here is unbeatable.

Guys thank you, all of your staff just keep doing what you do cause you have hit the nail bang...

Had the meaty breakfast. Food was ok but a bit bland (definite lack of salt during cooking) and lacking. Other meals did look more interesting so it could just be a poor choice. I'd also ordered a lemon and ginger tea that was literally quarter of a lemon and a hunk of ginger root in water which was also bland and didn't diffuse that well, definitely don't order this as you'd be paying the Price of tea for what is essentially just warm water.

Atmosphere wise it was busy and ok though definitely trying to be "trendy" rather than warm and welcoming.

Service though was terrible. We were a party of 4 and a child on one of the 4 person tables. The waitress seemed offended that we needed more time to look at the menu despite us only just arriving. We weren't offered a dessert and had trouble flagging the waitress down despite trying to order one. Instead the first we saw of her was when she came up to the table about 10 mins after clearing our plates to tell us we had to leave within 15 mins to which we answered we've been trying to order dessert. We were quickly brought it followed by the bill without us asking. When it came to the bill the waitress said she couldn't itemise it only do a 50/50 split l, which she did by using the calculator on her phone so it makes no sense that she couldn't itemise the bill.

All in all a disappointing experience and...
