Ordered two 10oz rump steak and one 8oz sirloin strip steak, medium rare for all three. Steaks came rare. Told the server about the confusion and she was helpful in getting the steaks back into the kitchen. After 15 minutes or so the steaks came back to our table, burnt and well-done. Raised the issue with the server, leading to a relatively young manager to our table. He stated that the way the steaks were cooked had been the standard served in-house and that we are in the wrong for expecting the standard for medium rare steaks to be the same everywhere. We were dumbfounded by the response, even so when he defended that the burnt, overly done steaks were cooked to our order for medium rare steaks. So do you mean that of all the steaks we've eaten thus far in our lives had been poorly done? Absolutely appalling. A real shame especially so when we were very eager to try this place from peer recommendations.

Lovely bar and great to have some background music. Would have loved to have given 5 stars but the service let us down. First waitress and manager were really helpful, however, the chilli dishes came out lukewarm and then was covered in cream. Nice that they cooked from scratch again but a quick blast in the micro would have sufficed. Third time lucky and the food was lovely. Shame it came out when everyone else had finished their food. Mix up about bill and rushed to finish up when I was still eating. Offered more drinks but was advised wed have to drink them quickly and leave. Complained to manager who was apologetic and embarrassed and assured is that it wasn't normal. Deducted my food from bill and offered us a free round of drinks if we return.

Fairly underwhelming. We changed our dinner plans when we saw they had Carribbean food. So colour me surprised when we were served unseasoned frozen vegetables (carrots and green beans) and under seasoned rice (which seemed a lot like Uncle Ben's, not gonna lie). The brown chicken was actually not bad. My soup was £7 and I'll add a picture of it and my spoon for size reference. The dumplings I added to make it more of a meal were as expected and did the trick bulking out the soup. It was absolutely delicious though. The staff were very friendly and I have zero complaints there. Very overpriced for what you get overall and we won't be rushing back. Really disappointing trip in today but if you're just going for a pint they're okay.

Have been going to bird and bear for a few years, and this is the first time I'd say I was disappointed in my experience. They have changed the menu, which was in itself a disappointment, and it's not been a change for the better. We ordered dumplings with curry sauce. They were like bricks (I swear if I'd thrown it, I could have broke a window), garlic bread, which appeared to be a bread roll with butter and chunks of garlic in top it (no pretty inedible) and we also tried to order chips. Which we were told they had run out of; but somehow every table around us got their order of chips with their food. After this, we won't be back for food again. Was extremely disappointing, and expensive for what we couldn't eat.

This bar adjacent to the new and growing tourist district at the harbour in Dundee is quite close to the newly opened V&A. I think it's a new bar, I am an infrequent visitor to Dundee and have never seen it. Very much a cocktail bar, split over 2 levels and some interesting decor, I particularly liked the bird cages. The barmen were dressed in dungarees with tartan shirts, comical or cliché? A bit Bill and Ben the flowerpot men as far as I was concerned. There were no barmaids, I am intrigued what they would have worn. I had their own brewed lager which was excellent.

We love the new jerk themed menu, it's exciting and diverse! Unfortunately I suck at eating chilies. It causes a lot of pain and makes me very sad. So my options are limited and it's not obvious what I can eat. My partner loved his mussels, wings and the mushrooms. But I found the soup too salty, possibly from being reduced down over the day and the salted fish a little claggy. I love the garlic spuds and the whitebait when they have it. (Only for peeps who love fishy tastes!) Also drinks art cheap but atmosphere and staff are lovely. 😊
