Came in here for dinner on Sunday 12th February, was not very busy and only seemed to be one person serving and one cooking. Served quickly enough and ordered the food - 2 fish and chips with some sides and drinks - most of it was fine bar the fish which was full of bones.
The waiter never came near after serving so couldnt raise it and was pressed for time as had to catch a train so we pressed on and ate as much as possible, myself having to stop and spit it out as a sharp bone (thankfully) lodged between my teeth, if it hadnt I might have choked. My son then showed me a similar size bone in his. I then called the waiter over and asked for the bill and alerted him to the bones and said it wasnt good enough.
He was polite and apologised but said it wasnt their fault as they got the fish in - dont they fillet it properly? Is it cheap cuts? I didnt have time to argue due to catching the train but this is nowhere near good enough. I dont recommend and wont be back here in a...
Read moreI needed a quick but satisfying sit down tea and, hesitantly, after shunning several so called "cool" dining places and in a bit of rush, I opted to enter the Blue Lagoon underneath Central Station arches. The waitress dealt with my order very pleasantly and efficiently and my food was soon in front of me - cod (2 large pieces), chips, mushy peas, lemons, bread and butter and a pot of tea - I was in heaven! My journey through heaven when I tasted the fish - it was evidently fresh fish and cooked just to perfection - white, flaky and tasty. I had to check out more and found that this is one of a number of fish restaurants in Glasgow founded by Ersilio Varese, who insists on using Jus Dripping to fry his fish. Here's to you Ersilio - it makes all the difference. I left a happy man and thanked the staff appropriately - the waitress, the fryer and "the boss". Way more than I had expected and a credit to Glasgow. Please...
