It’s okay, nothing special. This place has really lost it’s touch and it’s not as great as it once was. Popped in for lunch on a busy Sunday afternoon. It was Dec 23rd and everywhere else was full or had 45 minute wait. It soon became clear why DiMaggios at Royal Exchange Square was able to seat us right away. The food and service has really gone downhill. It’s not all bad, the art deco interiors has held up well and looks exactly the same as it did 10 years ago when I was last there. There is a genuine Italian cafe feel about it. The emphasis here is on Café because that’s what it feels like. We had the Ying Yang chicken to start with as this was one of the best things on the menu but it tasted more like frozen packet chicken and the sauce is different too. For main course we had Cajun Chicken Pizza (very similar to the chicken in the starter) and a Rigatoni Rusticated which was very oily and couldn’t finish it. Kids had cheese pizzas and they loved them. Kinds wish we had them too. Total bill including drinks came to £58 and didn’t feel like good value for money. Staff were very friendly and did the best they could but won’t be rushing back again for another 10 years. Much better options nearby (La Vita or Browns)

Came here for lunch with a friend visiting from Hong Kong. It was a Thursday so there was no need to make a reservation and the restaurant was about a third full for lunch anyways. The interior is decorated in a beautiful mix of Art Deco and Art Nouveau or The Glasgow Style as we call it. From the moment you walk it there's a sense of elegant ambience about the place, a little refined and with staff instantly professional. A very nice environment for old friends to catch up. There's a mixture of standard seats, bar stools and booth tables and we were shown to the latter. After we got our drinks, I ordered a vegetarian pizza and my friend ordered a Cabonara. The food was pretty good. My pizza came as a thin crust, with generous quantity of cheese and vegetables. I'd have given the restaurant four star had it not been for the waitress who served our table. While professional and went about her task business like, she really needed to learn to smile. No one wants their lunch served or bill paid with a sour face, especially not with a visitor from abroad.

Wel when we came in we got served to a lovely table in the midlle of the sqaure whit a great vieuw sadly before we even sat the menu's where slammed on the table and one of them even had a tear in them but whiteout saying anything the waiter just left. After that someone cam back to take our order i ordered orange juice and it just wasnt good was to watery and to be jonest i could get better orange juice in the grocery store but, when i told the waiter he was very understanding and just gave me something else. After 4 minutes my pizza arrived and i must say it was the highlight of the dish it was crisp on the outside it was well baked and had a lot of flavour. After the delicious pizza I still had 1 bite left and she already took away my plate. After the pizza I wasnt hungry anymore so I wanted to pay but it took them 10 minutes and us asking twice to finally get to pay the bill. If you love a good pizza this is the place for you but if you love good service then I wouldn't recommend Di Maggio's

Had a terrible experience in the di maggios in royal exchange square. 12 of us went for a Christmas lunch 6 children aged 11-12 and 6 adults all mums we were going for lunch before our pantomime. We were booked for 2pm our train was held us so we called ahead to advise we would be 10 mins late. When we arrived at were told table still was due back at 4 which we accepted. We all ordered a main meal and drinks. All fine the kids then ordered their deserts. At 3:25 we asked for 6 cocktails to be told quickly that there was no time as table was due back at 4 even although girls hadn’t had the puddings so we then asked for a bottle of Prosecco between 6 of us to be told no! We asked why they said it was at their discretion of what alcohol was served. We were treated like children. We asked to speak to Manager Dale who was so rude and obnoxious. He said no we wound not be getting anything. We had 2 bottles of Prosecco the whole meal between 6 of us. We asked why and couldn’t be given an answer. With 30 mins left on the table we asked for bill. When we got it we had been charged for a 3rd bottle of Prosecco which we were not allowed. When we brought this to attention of Dale he was adamant we had received a third bottle and then spent 10-15 mins frog marching around the restaurant asking all the staff that they had not served us a third bottle. Disgusting behaviour and very embarrassing. I am a former staff member of this establishment and have never know behaviour like this. My family have spent their life eating in DiMaggios and we will never be back. Very poor management skills and treatment to respectable people who were charged a lot for a very...

We also order the sea bass and the diavola pizza which was half cooked so I had to send it back for them to cook a a little bit more(not been tested yet).

The sea bass far too dry and the test wasn't that fresh for some reason. I had 2 bites of my pizza and I couldn't eat anything else after it. I'm not too sure if the chicken had been marinated in chilli power or there was chilli powder on the pizza. I'm not too sure but I just it DID NOT COMPLAIN about it because we had to send the sea bass back and we got a chicken burger instead so I just felt the pizza. Waiter came and asked and all I said to her was "it's a bit too spicy for me" so she went to the manager and she came back and said quite loud "you should the menu next time sir"

Courtney, I'm a chef and I know I should be reading my menu before ordering my food but thanks for tell me. In the menu it says chopped chilli, maybe you should learn the menu first and some customer service because I did felt embarrassed when u said that to be beca6there was a couple and there kids sitting right behind us.

Then you charged me for your dry sea bass? I really wasn't happy about, it's not my fault if your food wasn't nice.

So I gave you the receipt back and you back back with a very loud tone of voice telling my mum "ok don't pay for the sea bass and you will have to pay for you chicken burger.

I would like to say something to you Courtney I pay for all my food doesn't matter if it's in a restaurant, asda or aldi maybe you would do something like that but not me and if I really had a problem with money, I wouldn't have pay for the chilli powdery uncooked pizza...

Booked to use monetary gift vouchers purchased through Itison and given to me on retirement. The restaurant was extremely busy and noisy with lots of people waiting for tables. We were shown to a table for 2 which was squashed in between other tables. Our starters were really tasty, I has the goats cheese salad, and the OH had the ribs which fell off the bone. Mains arrived. My pizza was over salty and had very little garlic chicken and bacon topping - definitely not worth the price. The OH had fettuccine on the rocks, which was decent enough. We also had a bottle of pinot grigio which was £23, plus the 10% gratuity. On receipt of the bill, I presented the gift vouchers to the value of £40 to be told that these had to be used against an Itison deal. An argument ensued, and although I advised that I was in a rush to catch my transport home, the vouchers were monetary and not for a specific deal, the argument continued. The waiter (or boss as may have been) then decided he needed to take further advice, coming back with the bill, and saying there was only the difference of £27 to pay. If he had accepted this in the first place, I would not have been just in time to see my (infrequent) bus disappear around the corner. I am now on a circuitous route to try and get home, at my time and further expense. To say I am angry is an understatement. Nice starter, disappointing main, and service from several different people. An argument over gift vouchers and a £67 bill having been in the restaurant for less than an hour. Don't imagine we'll be...
