Update: Note: couple of years ago when I first visited I was impressed, however, my recent two visits have been less impressive (restaurants change management or chefs all the time, perhaps that’s what has happened here). I felt food didn’t have the outstanding taste (today they didn’t have BBQ or grill options, we had a chicken burger and a beef burger- both felt bland). I therefore no longer can give it excellent rating. I hope management and owners will pay attention and improve the taste and quality to become impressive again.

—— original review —— On a trip to Glasgow city centre, Shawarma Star charcoal grill popped up on Google. We were initially skeptical of the high google reviews (at the time of writing it had nearly couple hundred 5 Star ratings). We decided to give it a chance anyway. The place is barebones, with a rickety chair or two, we waited for our order with abated breath, and the this beautiful food came. It was excellent food. The grilled chicken was perfectly BBQed. Soft and juicy on the inside, provided with a very nice humus and Middle Eastern oil. The mixed shawarma was delicious, lightly browned and crispy wrap with soft and tasty meat inside. The chips were done right, not too oily or soggy, retaining their flavour. I think they did something to the Mayonnaise also, as it was light and nice flavour. Overall, if you don’t mind the sparse settings, the food quality, the friendly staff, deserve their high ratings. I have found a great place to eat in Glasgow city and I know I will...

Do not be fooled by the location. This place used to be a chippy and I popped in one night for a quick munch, realised the chippy had gone and this was in its place. Took one look at the Kebab Grill and thought "this is the real deal" it wasn't the usual factory produce meat that looks like its been sprayed on with hose, this was proper juicy layered slices of real lamb. I ordered the lamb Star Wrap that came with seasoned fries and a dollop of Aioli, also got a can of diet Irn Bru, all came to just over £10 bargain! The meat was juicy, hearty, well seasoned and tender as could be, the wrap was perfectly filled with salad, not bursting at the seams. Chips appeared to have a light dusting or oregano I think and the dip looked homemade. I was thoroughly satisfied with my meal, absolutely delicious, I have been back several times now. I recommend you try this place out and afterwards you will want to your vote in for them at the UK best...

The service was lightspeed while accompanied with a friendly banter. The owners are clearly running a very honest and good business. The lamb shawarma meat is handstacked, smoky and juicy. The shawarma wrap was just incredible, the flavours of grilled lamb, fresh onions, salty pickles and a touch of tahini were perfectly balanced and hugged in a freshly baked pitta. When you are hungry before you need to catch a train but you have no time, this is the place to visit. When you are not hungry and have plenty of time to spare, this place is equally worthy a visit. From now on, every time I pass by Glasgow, I’ll pay this...

Being a massive Shawarma fan and seeing this pop up with almost flawless Google reviews. My curiosity was piqued. Sceptical of some jiggery pokery I popped in on a otherwise uneventful evening to give it a try. It’s pretty basic inside. A counter. A grill and some fairly generic seating. But the food was great. Fresh light bread. The chicken juicy and flavourful. Tahini sauce adding some bite. A little container of chilli sauce really elevated it and at £5.50 it was good value served politely and efficiently. Not a jig or a poke in sight!

Gold star. First: I have a milk allergy, which is annoying as hell. But Talal made this meal an absolute delight. Falafel wrap was 11/10. Chips unparalleled. Garlic mayo, second to none. Salad, top tier. Second: The energy was superb. Did I get slightly razzed for an allergy? Yes. Was it valid? Also yes. The team made dinner feel like home. And upon leaving wished us a restful sleep. Uhm, excuse me? Thank you! Not only has this experience raised my standards for food, but also my standards for men. Would recommend.
