Sorry folks, but as has been mentioned by just about every other reviewer so far, you MUST address the serious ventilation issue before we have any plans whatsoever to return I'm afraid. Even as a person with a generally very weak sense of smell AND someone tolerant of such things AND being very supportive of new local ventures such as this, I simply cannot recommend Sheffield Plate to anyone at the present time.
Such a shame... as clearly a lot of time, thought and effort has gone into putting this venue together. However, as things stand this is entirely undermined by the frankly awful sense of sitting in a deep fat fryer for the duration of your visit (a possible exception being the downstairs seating area, but of course to get there you need to walk through part of the borderline toxic upstairs anyway... by which time the damage is done).
I had hoped that perhaps we were simply unfortunate - and that this issue is only a "once a day" occurrence (not that that would be acceptable.. but at least you could plan around and avoid it!). It seems that everyone who has reviewed on here has had the same experience however, which again is a shame.
I still overall grade 2 stars rather than 1 star - this being down to the helpful staff and also the quality of the food, which whilst being somewhat overpriced (typical for this kind of venture), was generally very good - and would certain bring me back... were it not for the disastrous weak / failing / inept ventilation system (and if you think I'm exaggerating... by all means go along and experience it for yourself!).
Sort that out and I'll definitely be back. Until then, it's a...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of trying a chicken pad thai that was simply amazing. The dish was a flavorful combination of thin, flat rice noodles that were cooked to perfection and coated in a sweet and savory sauce. The chicken in the dish was tender and juicy, cooked to perfection and blended perfectly with the noodles to create a delicious taste. The dish was also complemented by other ingredients like bean sprouts, chopped scallions and other vegetables that added a lovely crunch and enhanced the flavor of the dish. What impressed me most about this chicken pad thai was the perfect balance of flavors. The sweetness of the sauce and the savory taste of the chicken were beautifully harmonized to create a unique and delicious taste. Whether you prefer your pad thai with or without peanuts, this dish is sure to satisfy. The dish was packed with flavor and had a satisfying texture that made it a truly enjoyable dining experience. I would definitely recommend giving it a try and experiencing the wonderful flavors of this...
Read moreDropped in by chance on Friday evening with the kids (21&16), food choices great and everything looked good, food came and was delicious. Drinks were dissapointing- soft drinks massively overpriced (staff apologised for £2.50 for a can of coke), first service at the bar was laughable it was so incompetent but that was one person the barman sorted it all, large but very expensive choice of craft beers and ciders (in cans), no other beer options craft beers are not to my taste. A single traditional style bitter offering would have helped, not everyone wants citrussy, hoppy +hazy in 8 different versions. A few large groups in making a lot of noise enjoying themselves obvisouly struggling to be heard over the overly loud live music which was very good but unable to talk to the person across the table from you as it was so loud hence the 3 stars...
