Honestly the best dining experience i’ve ever had with my children & a perfect way to end our summer holidays šŸ„¹šŸ’• we love uramaki šŸ± #foryou #sheffield #sushi

My British partner said it’s fine food for value but I’d disagree because my California roll for 10Ā£ looked so sad and disappointing - it had a patchy caviar layer only on one side (after looking at the picture on the menu and using common sense you’d think it has rye on all 4 sides) taste was bland presentation just rice squares on plate nothing else (they ask if you want wasabi separately) We also accidentally added grilled shrimps on wooden sticks to our order I don’t know how (I think we confused it with grilled chicken bits) and we only noticed it when they brought it to us. When we told that we didn’t order it and don’t want it they said since it’s in electronic order they can’t remove it. Maybe this is fine but kind of unpleasant situation. I would be okay with it if shrimps tasted okay but it’s literally just defrosted soggy shrimp in a puddle of soy sauce. My partner didn’t eat it but I did because I don’t mind as long as it’s edible - when I used to be a teen and didn’t know how to cook I would eat defrosted shrimp that tasted very similar. Not for 10Ā£ though. Thinking back about it I should have told the staff that this dish is bad maybe they would have removed it but who knows. Place also uses plastic plates for some stuff which gives a bit of fast food vibe. Some dishes were nice! I liked salmon fried sashimi (it had a bit caviar and a flower on it). From my partner: nice ramen and very cute robot Staff worked quickly and generally no problems with them

First of all, the aesthetic of the restaurant is lovely. Car park opposite and easy to find.

The tablets to order from at the tables, although cool, are fairly annoying. Passing round a tablet between a large party takes far too long. Call me old school, but a menu in its normal guise and a staff member taking the orders would suit me just fine.

Maybe I'm completely naive to the Japanese way of doing things, but if I order something from the mains selection and something from the sides, I'd expect those to accompany each other. If you went to an Indian restaurant and ordered a chicken madras, pilau rice and a naan and they brought you the rice first, followed by the madras 15min later then the naan which was no longer of any practical use 30mins after that you'd be disappointed. This is exactly what happened here. I ordered rice, curry sauce, a main meat based dish and chips. Rice came first after 5mins, curry 10min later, main 10min after that, and just when we'd finished everything on the table we realised the chips never came. I told a staff member and said you may as well cancel them only to be told I couldn't as they were now ready, a good 25mins after everything on the table had been eaten. They said had I asked, the staff would have told me they take much longer to make šŸ¤·ā€ā™‚ļø

The food wasn't all that, everything was fried to death.

Staff were attentive, although once we started to put our coats on it was like a hoard of vultures swarmed in cleaning up our left overs and ushering us out.

Overall not a great experience and certainly...

This is a difficult place to rate. My wife and I went for a birthday treat stroke date night.

Service: We found the electronic service to be very effective and she enjoyed not having to call a waiter very much. I found it a little annoying because I kept removing items from my order by mistake, and not having the chance to interact with the servers gave it something of a detached feel which, in my opinion, detracted from the atmosphere. Over all, I think the service is exactly as you want, or not at all as you want based on your wants from a restaurant staff, try it for yourself and decide.

Atmosphere: We went late on a Thursday so it wasn't the busiest time or the busiest time. The area was rather pretty and I felt nicely isolated from other diners so we had a very nice time. The unfortunate aspect is the bench/sofas (?) by the window were very uncomfortable, even with the provided pillows.

Food: This is really where the evening was set back. We found that many dishes tried to skimp on the focus of the dish. For example I had some Bao Buns, but the filling was mostly salad mix and only a very tiny amount of the filling, so was largely flavourless. My wife had a sushi roll with tuna in and we were able to note that the tuna had turned. And a beef dish I ordered was so chewy I was unable to actually eat it and had to secret my mouthful into a napkin. Our opinion is that you can make a nicer sushi roll at home with a rice cooker and the instructions on the back of a tesco Sushi Rice packet. Which is...
