Bocadillo — Restaurant in Teignbridge

I'm a local here and I decided to support a small local business so I went for a coffee here. Right away the service I received was rude and dismissive. The woman there didn't seem to want to serve us at all. I asked for two americanos and this woman rudely just asked if that's two dark coffees. I said yes. When she finally came out with the two coffees I extended my phone to pay and this woman rudely said: "It's cash only. All the locals know this." During COVID times I don't carry any cash on me and neither do most people. There were no signs anywhere that said this, and instead of explaining this politely to us, this woman was rude a belittled us. Food is great, best baguettes in teignmouth . But customer service was not great. As there is pasta on the menu, I asked if they do plain pasta. Instead of just saying no sorry we can't do that, the woman serving was huffing and puffing , rolling her eyes and just being generally rude as if serving me was was inconvenience. I said don't worry if its a hassle, but they did have some plain pasta. Not sure what all the fuss was about just say yes or no if its too much trouble ? Had the chicken + pesto panini. Superb. Missus had been going on about " You must have something from Bocadillo" so it was a toss up between Le Cygne (Dawlish . . The ban mi is exceptional) or the panini. Nice to have a choice. I'd score it a 1 all draw! Well done To both. Note of caution re the ban mi. .
