My experience was not great. Not great at all. Terrible, in fact. When we walked in we were greeted by a guy on his phone to the side who didn't even look up and another who came straight away and asked "a table for how many", yet we made a reservation (which now didn't even seem necessary as we shouldn't have even bothered to go there) and then we said he had a reservation and he realised that we had, due to a scrap piece of paper on the table.
The interior was so fake, it clearly wasn't a "fine dining" place, even though the prices suggested otherwise. If you see the menu, you'll see for yourself that the prices are WAY too extortionate for what they are. There was grease and old bits of food on the menus that were so off-putting. It was abhorrent, clearly we made the wrong decision.
We were given a plate of popodoms and sauces (mango, chilli, mint , and onion pickle) which were thrown into the table, as if we were interrupting something important. Furthermore, when asking for simple tap water, we were delighted to be told there wasn't any. Any restaurant should have this for their customers. Furthermore, we expected, to say the least, new plates after the popodoms but alas, it was not the case.
Upon receiving food, the curry was cold, salty and tiny for how much we paid, £14 for it! We had a look at the menu because we thought the platter for 2 was more than the mix grill yet the only difference was apparently the chips and £5! How can you pay £5 extra for a plate of oily, overcooked chips where most of them were too hard to eat. There was no butter on the naan and if we asked about it, the rude waiter may have said it was £5 extra for it! The biryani wasn't authentic, it tasted like a curry mixed into plain rice and that wasn't good at all. To top that, it was really greasy.
Finally, we asked to take some food away and the response was, we were given two containers with a "Here you go" and he walked off. That was so rude, it seemed like they were more interested in their phones than our custom. I would never go there again, not even as a last resort. We decided to try something new and this is the case. I advise you, do not even think of going here. It isn't the sort of place that one should expect...
Read moreIt was the day after Eid 2017 and me and my family had driven south from Birmingham to check out the beautiful views of Wales .... And it didn't dissaooint. We were reccomended mirchi to dine at and we thought we give it a go. It was extremely busy and we didn't expect anything less especially the day after Eid and we knew there would be a wait for the food which we didn't mind as we were full from seeing all the beautiful sights wakes had to offer us. The food came and it was delicious, well seasoned, full of flavour and great portions........well apart from one fish the chicken tikka masala. It had no seasoning no flavour and all it tasted of was butter, we notified the waitress and told her we no longer wanted a replacement as we didn't want to wait any longer and as we barely touched the dish can it be removed of the bill..the waitress agreed and we continued to eat. A full ten minutes later came the manager with the same dish insisting it's different and it was remade (but it was stone cold) he argued with one of our family members insisting we had to keep and eat it and even if we didn't eat it we still have to pay for it as this is how the dish is served...this argument went on for 5 mins and frankly we were fed up the manager wouldn't leave us alone ...the came our server brilliant gentleman and very kind (sorry I didn't catch your name) he even admitted there has been a few complaints on that very same day about the same dish and that he would make sure it gets removed of our bill. We didn't mind paying for it if the manager didn't at start an argue and stall us from eating. If your going to dine at mirchi avoid the chicken tikkah masalah and avoid the manager at all costs unless you want him to ruin your night for you .......
Oh btw my dish was amazing it was the lamb kerahi cooked...
Read moreAfter a day hiking the Brecon Beacon nothing better than a mix of great food at Mirchi. The restaurant is situated on the high road Cardiff. We visited on bank holiday Monday and roads were very busy and we managed to find parking. Please be mindful restrictions in place during non bank holiday times. The restaurant has a good decor and lots of seating. The BBQ and charcoal grill is at the front and customers can choice and see while the food is bring cooked by the chef. Staff were very friendly and we were seated in a very nice spot curved sofa seat and table. The restaurant has its own VIP wing if you want to treat that special person or for a family event, birthday etc. Once seated we given menu and able to relax. The waiter gave us enough time to read menu and told about specials on menu if we wanted it. We went for the mixed grill, king prawn karchai, meat and chicken karchai, mushroom rice, butter nan and nan. The waiter brought us popadoms with sauces on the house and also gave us a water bottle on the house. They don’t serve tap water but the waiter gave us a bottle water on the house. We also ordered a jug of mango lassi. The mixed grill came first and after a short wait all other dishes arrived. The mix grill had good portions and enough for 3 of us. All meat was well cooked, tender, fresh and well flavoured. All the dishes were great. They tasted delicious, hot, great flavours and spice not to hot and not to mild for us Deshi boys. The food was just what we needed after that hike. Great food, great service and great place to eat, relax and have a laugh. Next time your in Cardiff and looking for a curry give this restaurant a go you wont be disappointed and the price was excellent for 3...
