Flipside Gastro Burgers - Broadway, Cotswolds — Restaurant in Wychavon

First, we were told there were reservations on the tables so would try and fit us in if possible. We did get a table right at the entrance however in the following 2 hours we spent there only one other couple came in mentioning a reservation. There were no other new guests who came in after us either. So not sure why we were told this at the start. Also it was late afternoon around 3.30 so wasn't even peak lunch hour.

Next, we requested a high chair and were told due to the type of floors highchairs were not allowed. Half of the restaurant's floor had normal laminated flooring so not sure why highchairs wouldn't be allowed. Never heard of this anywhere else.

Next, we requested a spoon to feed our baby some baby food we brought with us. We were told that again, that's not usually allowed but since there wasn't anyone around he was able to provide us one. I was quite surprised and not in a pleasant way. We had already ordered drinks so couldn't leave. Else we would have as we found this quite rude.

Next, the printed menu outside the main door listed lower prices than the ones on the website through which we were asked to select. The burgers did combine a portion of fries with it but we had to take it as there wasn't an option to order just a burger on it's own at the lower price listed outside. Again this seemed very unusual since we haven't been to any restaurant where the prices of food do not match between the inside and outside menus.

Next, we were told the service charge was optional but when the payment machine was brought over it had the total including the service charge which we obviously paid. Moreover, when we were asked at the start if we needed any ketchup etc and we requested some hot sauce we were not aware that we would be charged for two portions of that as well!

Considering the service was not even basic we felt disappointed with the entire experience and not to mention cheated.

Lastly the place felt cold and no heating was provided despite it being a cold afternoon.

We visit Broadway often but will never step in...

During our visit to the charming village of Broadway, we decided to give Flipside restaurant a try. While our experience was not without its upsides, we left with mixed feelings about the overall dining experience.

To start, upon entering the restaurant, we had the impression that we were the first customers of the day. The atmosphere inside was a bit dreary, and the cooking smoke had permeated the air, leaving a slightly off-putting aroma. However, we were optimistic about the meal to come and decided to give it a chance.

Unfortunately, the service seemed a bit distracted, and it was clear that the staff could have been more attentive to our needs. This did detract from our experience somewhat, as we felt a bit neglected and not entirely welcome.

On a brighter note, the food at Flipside was actually quite good. The menu boasted an array of classic American-style dishes, and our meals were well-prepared and tasty. However, we couldn't help but feel that the prices were not entirely justified, given the overall experience. We were left feeling that the value for money could have been better, and we would have expected more for the price.

To give a comparison, Flipside reminded us of Five Guys, with its fast-food-style atmosphere and menu. While we enjoyed the food, we felt that the overall experience and service were lacking, especially given the prices charged.

In conclusion, our experience at Flipside was a mixed bag. While the food was good, the atmosphere and service were somewhat disappointing, and the prices felt a bit steep for what was offered. Absolutely amazing service and food from lovely people, myself and my girlfriend were down from the north for a week away to celebrate my birthday, the day of my birthday I tried to reserve a table, being a Sunday I had a feeling it would be busy, I didn’t manage to get through however a few minutes later I got a call back asking if they could be of service, after a friendly chat we were booked in.

When we got there they were expecting us and extremely friendly and accommodating for us both, the staff were great to talk to and could tell they enjoy working there, we even said we would be back during this week as we know how good the service and food is.

Fast forward to today and I called up, the gentleman over the phone remembered us both and got us booked in with no issues at all, again the food was perfectly cooked just like Sunday.

I guarantee we will be back again, even if it’s driving down the 2 hour 30 mins for a weekend and having food there again, will recommend FlipSide to everyone who is planning on visiting the area.
