My wife and I went here with out kids this evening and I have never been more disappointed in my life. Both her and I grew up coming to this Hibachi and some of our first dates were here. We decided out of the blue to go out to eat tonight and thought this would be a fun trip down memory lane. We were terribly wrong. Although the staff was nice the quality of the food was TERRIBLE! First, the salad. It was literally served to us in a to go plastic container. I found it strange that a nice Japanese restaurant would serve us in cafeteria containers but I chalked that up to the pandemic practices that haven't changed yet. But the meal.....wow. First the rice was not made fresh but brought out to us and I will tell you I am almost 100% certain it was Uncle Ben's teriyaki rice. If you have ever eaten microwaved minute rice you know that there is something different about it from fresh rice. I was shocked that I was at the same place being served something that I could have made my self after a trip to Giant. When the Chef came out I was at least happy we came for the experience as my kids (4&5) had been to a Hibachi style restaurant once before and loved it. This was the most pathetic attempt at Hibachi possible. A few spatula flips and an opening flame but that was it besides some small talk. My son was upset and was asking about things like the "volcano" or getting water squirted at him (funny things the chef at the last place had done ect") and this guy just nervously shook it off and continued to cook. So once we got the food It was again just horrible. My steak (which was the thinnest I have ever seen an NY strip be in my life) was cooked almost well done and I had asked for medium rare but the scallops were fine. the MAJOR issue was the absolute INSANE amount of pepper this guy put on. It literally made me sneeze at least once. It was barely edible. My wife said her steak and chicken were bland with the exception of the overpowering pepper. The kids barely ate it. The one thing that I found really really strange was the two stella's I had ordered came out with the caps still on, bent enough to be removed but at a place like this not even a glass? That's nit picking but just the cherry on top of it. Our bill was $113 ( with a 4 dollar cranberry juice for my 4 year old?!) and we left a $20 dollar tip because the waitress was nice. Overall this was absolutely terrible and a waste of money. I don't know if its the pandemic or what ever else but this place nose dived....
Read moreI was here tonight for Father's Day with my husband, 2 of our adult children and my mother-in-law. It was difficult to find the restaurant and then, once we entered the basement restaurant, the warren of aisles and rooms without any informational/directional signs made for a not welcoming beginning. I made a reservation and was glad I did when we arrived and found the place jumpin'. We were seated fairly quickly (abut 15 minutes after we arrived) but had to wait for quite a while (20 minutes) until a server showed up. She was physically there but her mind seemed to be elsewhere. She didn't ask about beverage refills and neglected to remove dirty plates from the table. The Teppanyaki chef was fairly humorless and was perfunctory. We did not get a big flame, which my husband loves, and we figured that it was probably because we had no small children at our table - what a disappointment! The price as a bit high for hibachi. Additionally, I had a coupon from a local Clipper Magazine (B1G1 entree) which had no exclusions on the coupon anywhere. I was told that it wasn't valid on Father's Day. Upon arriving home, I attempted to email Hibachi about my coupon not being accepted and found to my surprise that the Jenkintown Hibachi has no contact information on their website. Not a happy camper and I will not return to...
Read moreNot gonna lie, it felt a little dungeon-y. But in a good way. Like it felt like the setting for some really good japanese food as well as the perfect date night setting. We went on a sunday at 6pm. We were lucky enough to get sat at our own table with our own chef . Usually parties smaller than 8 would have to share a chef. So this felt perfect for our 2 year anniversary. The wait staff was fantastic and the chef was very professional. They made us feel like we were at home. We had the Japanese fried chicken, octopus balls, steak/scallops, and salmon/shrimp. All tasted fantastic. The octopus blew me away because i didn’t know what to expect. It was probably the best taste appetizer. Don’t let the name put you off. Youll want these in your mouth, no diddy. To drink, we had the hibachi cooler and south beach. The south beach was better but both were good. Overall fantastic experience. Parking was free as they’re located in a shopping center and the location is easy to find. They have ample parking at the front and back of building. Although the back was where the actual front door is. Will definitely go again with a bigger group of friends!
I spent $98 for me and my wife and tipped 20%. So definitely affordable for a...
