Read moreLet me start off by saying: THIS IS NOT A BAD THEATER. So many people think you can only ever give a 5/5 for positive reviews. That's simply not true. 3/5 is good, but let me explain why I didn't do a 4 or 5.
This theater is old. That's a given. And part of the aesthetic is the age, so that's neat. But the reality is that MORE seats are uncomfortable than there are comfortable. And, it's VERY likely you will have neck-pain halfway into your theater experience.
I'm home right now and I have a bit of tightness. Of course, I sat at a seat NOBODY should (complete front to the right) but I remember seeing Close Encounters here and my wife and I sat at the center and I still felt a pain in my neck. It turned out I had my head tilted up ever-so-slightly just to see the screen.
This is a BIG DEAL whether you realize it or not. The food is good, the location is great for dates, and the classic movie showings are always exciting, but if your audience has neck-pain when doing the most bare-bones of the theater experience, that's bad.
But look, it's still a cute theater and I still find myself attending every now and then. But, I've only ever gone for classic movies. If they ever show current ones (like Incredibles 2 this weekend), I'd rather go to...
Read moreI went to see Wicked yesterday. First time there. My only concern is that I felt a little buggy after sitting for awhile. I mentioned it to my mom sitting next to me and she noticed the same thing. And I knew she did because I could see her making the same swiping gestures I was making. I did mention it to a random person working the concession stand. So I shook out my jacket. Disrobed and sprayed upon retuning home and washing what I wore. I liked the size of the theater and found it comfortable other than the buggy feel which I don't totally blame them for because anyone can carry bugs in. I just think and suggested spray and vacuum more regularly especially the seats. Whether they do is on them. I don't go to movie theaters often and this experience will widen the gap of my return. Years ago I went to a different theater and left when I saw a mouse run across the floor in the dark. It was not this theater but this just confirms for me the reason I don't like to go. Mice and bedbugs can be anywhere. I just get...
