If I could give this restaurant a zero out of ten I would. I celebrated my 30th birthday with my sister and a few of my friends about 2 weeks ago. I booked the reservation for Sunday at 4:00 pm. When we arrived I was greeted by the hostess and asked if I’m okay with a $25 cake fee immediately; that my sorority sister purchased. I told her yes. She then told me that they were going to “put something together “so we waited to be seated. Remember, this is a reservation. We sat down after about 10-15 minutes and decided on our appetizers and meals immediately. We decided that we would start with the deviled eggs. We were not greeted for another 10-15 minutes after being seated. When the server finally came we put in three peach lemonades and the appetizer. We watched our server complete 3 birthday party songs for another 30 minutes instead of bringing us any drinks. I worked in the food industry for 8-10 years and that is honestly unacceptable. It’s important to take care of your table first. However we were patient and asked another server if she could please just bring us water. After waiting for even longer, our server brought 3 lemonades with peach syrup sitting at the bottom; it wasn’t shaken at all. We then checked to see how much longer it would be for our appetizer to come out. The server then says “Nobody told her they were out of deviled eggs.” She then stated that they were not doing dinner menu right now only brunch. I chose the shrimp and grits which were cold. I wouldn’t recommend . One friend got the chicken biscuit and eggs; her eggs were not fresh. Her food was as if it had been sitting out so she sent it back . My other friend got lamb chops and my sister got chicken and waffles. I did have a friend who showed up late ordered her drink and food at the bar. She got everything she ordered within 15 minutes after we waited for over 45 minutes. We brought our dislikes to the attention of our server and she was all over the place. We asked for a manager who was compassionate and understanding. She then told us that our server was also a manager. Our server/manager had piss poor service. The new manager ended up having the head chef come out and he had the nastiest attitude when we brought our dislikes to his attention about our food. He proceeded to argue along with our server/manager going back and forth about each plate. “UNPROFESSIONAL!!” The head chef also acted as if my sister didn’t have the money to pay for her plate. You never who is dining in your establishment. She is very well off financially which is offensive. The head chefs attitude was disgusting. We were told “ No refunds and told we could replace the items with another food item on the menu in a distasteful manner. We were also told that water is not standard in the beginning. Well I would like to know what is standard after waiting for 40 minutes. We didn’t order alcohol we order lemonade. I ordered the fried chicken to go. I was also asked if I would like to be sung Happy Birthday at the end. I declined. We asked for them to please bring out our cake which came without the cake wrap on it. The box was sealed tight but somehow somebody put their sticky fingers in it. Our server/manager said she didn’t know where it was at. I asked for the owner of the business contact info who was out of town. I always love supporting Black Owned Businesses as me and all of my friends are Black women. We did not have nasty attitudes. We were understanding, patient and respectful . Our experience was horrible. My 30th birthday was a complete fail and this business needs to do better. I would not recommend going to this restaurant. Nouveau Noir needs to do better and provide better service as well as hire individuals who truly have professional customer service. Your team is a reflection of your company and they need a lot more training on professionalism and...
Read moremyself, along with 4 of my friends had a meal at the establishment in Dallas on Sunday . On arrival, we were excited to support one of the newer black owned businesses in the DFW area.
Our reservation was at 4:00, we arrived timely and were told that they “had to put something together” and we were not seated until 4:14 pm. We were also made aware of the $25 cake fee, which I am used to at black-owned establishments.
After seating, we were not greeted by our server for at least another 10-12 minutes, in which we decided to put in our drink orders (non-alcoholic), food, and appetizers. At 4:49, after not receiving anything to drink, we asked another server for at least water, until we could get our beverages. From there, our waitress then rushed out with our beverages and said that water is not standard. At this point, she also informed us that our appetizer was sold out, instead of offering us something else, she told us our food would be out soon. It came out working the next 5-10 minutes but was less than stellar. I ordered the chicken biscuit, and others ordered the Lamb Chops, Wings, and shrimp and grits. The eggs were rubber, so I did not touch them, when I cut into the chicken, although hot, it was stale. I assume because brunch is until 5:15 and starts at the top of the day. I sent the food back and did not care to order anything else.
In this time, our waitress proceeded to participate in 3+ birthday celebrations and we did not have as much as a glass of water on our tables.
In this time, the waitress who was also a manager and the head chef came out to speak with us to hear our discrepancies. They were both brash, rude, and unwilling to hear us out without arguing back their points. The waitress then tried to “prove up” that our timing was incorrect with inaccurate time stamps, because we had our own. The head chef (male) then proceeded to berate us a group of women about not liking the food. He even then went on to say to me directly “you don’t want anything else, even though it’s complimentary” with his arms folded in a defensive tone. This insinuated that I didn’t have the money to pay for food. After a small back and forth, I was stern and told him I wanted nothing else at this establishment and to bring me back my birthday cake so we could wrap up our time.
We then received our tickets, I was still charged for the meal that I sent back because “I had to pay for it because I ordered it” and we were still charged automatic gratuity, despite the exceptionally poor service that we received. After stating that my ticket was wrong, I offered to pay for it, but informed the waitress/manager that after I took some time to process my thoughts, I would rectify the situation in the morning. Because above all, I’m a professional and don’t leave bills unpaid. I received my cake back but the topper was missing, and I asked for that and after 10-15 minutes it showed up (cold) which let me know it was in the fridge the entire time. Further, the box had been opened and I know This because the box was taped up and it was disturbed and even ripped in places. I am certain this was done maliciously.
What those in charge of our experience didn’t know is that we were celebrating my line sister’s 30th birthday, not just a momentous occasion but and even more special day as we nearly lost her 3 years ago. The service we received was abysmal at best, and I hope that training and professionalism can be incorporated into your corporate policies because it was absolutely...
Read moreWorst Reception Experience Ever!! I have been to the one in Atlanta and really wanted to try this one but the reception me and my family received were HORRIBLE!! Upon arriving was told full party had to be there. Ok fine they were parking and in the area on a Saturday night parking is scarce so it took an additional 20 minutes. Told host that we were ready and she asked for name on reservation and amount of people. I told her last name and 3 people. We went inside to wait. No waiting area and the bar was full so we had to stand to the side. Granted could've waited outside however it is hot and after having to park and walk around the corner air was needed. Our reservation was for 7:45 and due to parking when everyone got there it was about 8:20. We waited about 20 minutes and in that time there was no communication about anything. I went and asked if there was any time estimate or what have you and she rolled her eyes and said they were trying to cancel someone to get us in. I said I understand I was just wondering if you could provide an ETA on how much longer to which she replied I told you when you were outside that I would look and see. Totally not my question and the attitude was completely uncalled for. Not to mention between the time we all arrived and the time I asked for an ETA was about 20 minutes or so. I didn't know there was a problem in asking for a time in which we would have to wait when we were never given a waiting time in the first place. Normally the response from anywhere else would be 10-15 minutes or 20 or 45 or whatever but I guess that was too much for her. Not to mention the face she made was that of when someone wants to curse but is holding back. I never cursed or was rude. I just asked a question. We ended up leaving and going elsewhere. She really really needs a class or some type of lessons in customer service. I do not know her name however she had brown/blondish braids an an attitude stanker than a construction worker who hasn't bathed in a week. Maybe it was a bad day due to her having to keep telling people they could not be seated until everyone there and people kept complaining about parking. Maybe she woke up on the wrong side of the bed. Who knows however nothing warranted her attitude towards me especially when she advised remaining party had to be there I did not fuss I said ok and sat to wait outside for 20 minutes while awaiting remaining of party and then sat another 20 minutes or more awaiting an update from her once all arrived. The craziest part is there were four tables available and a booth outside of the long table that had been put together for what I am guessing was a large group so they could have accommodated our party of 3 especially if reservations are cancelled after 15 minutes as she said but clearly she did not want to. I do want to also mention there were two other young ladies at the hostess station who I am guessing took orders from her so they did nothing to help either and they were laughing when she kept making faces at me when I was asking about a table. And I only gave one star because I had to input something but if it was up to me not even a fifth of a star would have been given as I did not get a chance to eat or really experience the atmosphere but the service was horrible and not of what it should have been.
Maybe it is better during the week when the location and places surrounding it are not as busy and when there are others who are managing the front of the house/restaurant as I have seen that at...
