Vidorra Cocina de Mexico in Addison, Texas, is a modern Mexican restaurant that celebrates culture through authentic dishes, bold cocktails, and a highly energized environment. The name translates to "the good life," which is embodied in the heart and soul of any Vidorra experience.
The restaurant is located in the heart of Addison Circle, a vibrant shopping and entertainment district. The interior is bright and inviting, with colorful accents and a lively atmosphere. The menu features a wide variety of Mexican dishes, from classic tacos and enchiladas to more creative options like flaming fondido and wood-fired rotisserie chicken.
I recently had the opportunity to dine at Vidorra with a group of friends. We started with the flaming fondido, which is served in a 400° molcajete (a traditional Mexican mortar and pestle). The fundido was made with melted cheese, chicken, and onions, and it was absolutely delicious. The heat from the molcajete kept the fundido bubbling and gooey.
For our main courses, we ordered a variety of dishes, including the chicken barbecue tacos, and the elotes. The chicken barbecue tacos were good, but the chicken was a bit dry. The elotes were the standout dish of the night. The elotes were grilled corn that was topped with cotija cheese, mayonnaise, chili powder, and lime. They were perfectly cooked and seasoned, and they were the perfect addition to our meal.
Overall, I had a good experience at Vidorra. The food was good, the drinks were delicious, and the atmosphere was lively. I would definitely recommend Vidorra to anyone looking for a fun and authentic Mexican dining experience.
Here is a more detailed review of the dishes I mentioned:
Flaming fondido: The flaming fondido is a must-try at Vidorra. It is made with melted cheese, chorizo, and onions, and it is served in a 400° molcajete. The heat from the molcajete keeps the fundido bubbling and gooey, and the chorizo adds a nice bit of spice. The fundido is served with warm tortillas and chips, and it is the perfect way to start your meal. Chicken barbecue tacos: The chicken barbecue tacos were good, but the chicken was a bit dry. The tacos were topped with grilled onions and cilantro, and they were served with a side of rice and beans. Elotes: The elotes were the standout dish of the night. Read moreI am writing to express my profound disappointment and utter dismay regarding the appalling lack of concern, professionalism, and responsiveness exhibited by the staff, particularly the security team and management, at Vidorra in Addison.
On Saturday, 12/9, I encountered a distressing situation involving a young woman visibly vulnerable as I witnessed her crying while she was surrounded by two men. Despite my immediate intervention out of concern for her safety and well-being, the response I received from the security personnel was shockingly inadequate and dismissive. The security guard failed to acknowledge the gravity of the situation, disregarding the potential danger this young woman might have been facing. Their excuse, stating she was an adult and thereby absolving themselves of any responsibility, is not only legally inaccurate but morally reprehensible.
Subsequently, my attempt to escalate this distressing incident to the attention of a sheriff met with disinterest and neglect. The lack of care exhibited by law enforcement in a potentially dire situation further compounded my dismay.
My distress peaked when I engaged with a manager named Joseph. Not only was Joseph resistant to acknowledging the severity of the situation, but his unwillingness to share the establishment's protocol for handling such incidents was deeply troubling. His dismissive and argumentative stance, even when confronted with a visibly upset individual in distress, showcased a blatant disregard for customer safety and well-being.
This incident is not an isolated occurrence. It reflects a systemic failure in your establishment's training, protocols, and the overall commitment to ensuring the safety and security of patrons. As a customer, I am appalled by the lack of empathy, accountability, and professionalism displayed by your staff.
Rest assured, this experience has led me to an irrevocable decision—I will no longer patronize in any of Vidorra's venues. It is deeply regrettable that such negligence and indifference to potential safety threats are tolerated within your establishment.
I implore you to take immediate and comprehensive action to address these critical deficiencies in your staff training and protocols. The safety and well-being of your patrons should be paramount, and any disregard for these fundamental responsibilities is...
Read moreAfter 9PM: It’s March babies season. Celebrated a friend’s birthday at the Addison location. Perfect location. Booked and busy. You can hear the music from the parking lot. Good luck circling around and around to find one. This plaza stays busy, especially at night. AND the fun doesn’t end until 2 A.M. Didn’t have reservations but only a 20 minute wait- of course AT THE BAR! We ordered the Topo Chico filled with tequila and such rimmed with Tajin. 😳😳 Ohhh, this that one to start with, if drinking is what you came for, indeed. It’s good. We got the text that the table was ready, we sat next to the bar on the ‘outside’ part. Music had everyone feeling themselves. Kency took care of the table and was wonderful. We ordered the “The Toxic” drink. 😬 Yikes. It’s the aftermath that gets yah. But exciting. Started with the Flaming Fundido - Vegetarian Duh! 🔥🔥🔥 BEWARE: Touch bowl and you’ll be missing some skin, ya heard. Also do not place the tongs near the bowl. Don’t let it touch them. You’ll have a hard time using them because they are too hot to handle. Literally!! The chips and salsa AND Fundido will have you full. However, choose to be greedy and order more. Unfortunately, the music interpreted to Kency, veggie quesadillas (really just cheese😶) AND Birria Veggie tacos. WARNING: The broth has pork in it so don’t dip. Always be sure to check the tacos. No meat, sounds like beef. It can get loud. Use the hotter sauce next to it. All good though, I have lunch at the 🚪 now! I will say those birria tacos are clutch. Gesh!!! So good, but I had to stop after one 1/2. 😩 My birthday friend had some chicken concoction that made me 2nd guess life as a vegetarian 🤔 Beautifully made. The smell after her pulling it apart was prominently enticing. But the party wasn’t over until Kency brought out a shot for the Birthday 🥳 Girl. Love the 🎇 Sparkler. Captured a great photo. You will have a good time and if you don’t fix your attitude. ‘Cause Viddorra is a vibe that will change your mood with food. Kitchen closes at 10 P.M.
On Thursday’s is Ladies Night (not sure of the perks.) However, the 2nd portion is more of a bar/club scene from 10 P.M.-2 A.M. The staff seem to have fun as well as the patrons.
Can’t wait to use my gift card. I’m always down to toast to the...
