The Original Pancake House — Restaurant in Addison

First time visiting The Pancake House and you're greeted with the rustic lounge setting the minute you walk in, nice touch. Unfortunately that's where the impressed vibe ends; we go to new places to be wooed by the food but not in this case. I gave the spinach, cheddar and mushrooms omelet a try, with a side hashbrowns, now I wasn't expecting Michelin Star grub, but neither was I expecting food that looked and tasted microwaved.

The omelet didn't look like an omelet, it was cooked closed and more in the shape of a football with a hard cooked outside and inside. The hashbrowns were cubed and possibly frozen, they didn't have that slightly seared, crispy texture and taste of hashbrowns, these were soft with no taste at all save for the Tabasco sauce I tried to bless them with. I did manage to get through half of the meal, despite the gritty after taste that made me look twice at the eggs.

My server was good and very attentive with the people traffic, and I didn't get all haughty and finger pointing, I just tipped him and paid up.

Met up with a friend at this location and I loved this location! The Original Pancake House is my family's go to breakfast spot and we normally go to the one off Lemmon but we may just have to start trekking a little further to come here because this location is huge and had a great lounge waiting area. So even if the wait is longer than desired, my friend and I didn't mind it as we were comfortable and chit chatting away. The service from walking in the door at the hostess stand to our server and check out was great. We didn't feel rushed or pressured to rush so we were able to enjoy the atmosphere, company, and food. I ordered the meat omelette and added spinach and one it was huge, two it was very light and airy, and three it was very flavorful. You can really taste the eggs and spinach and meat but it was not greasy or oily like other omelettes would be. I normally get the regular coffee and add cream and sugar since they don't have flavored creamer but this time I tried their Mocha Latte and oh my it was so tasty.
