Captain D's — Restaurant in Adel

Being able to get fish out here on the road is a treat when you're a truck driver. We're too used to eating burgers and fries unless we run into that rare truckstop with an actual restaurant. Especially one that is clean. And I really mean that. Some restaurants will simply knock the old food onto the floor and set the table for the next customer. That in itself is just not sanitary. This place Captain D's is a clean place to eat. The food is quality food. They offer your fish cooked how you like it: batter dipped, Cajun style, baked,or southern style. I really got to enjoy their menu as I tried much of it sitting around for the last two days waiting to get loaded. Turns out my load is in a different place. Therefore, I chose to take some of it with me. The seafood gumbo is delicious. The Cajun catfish is fantastic. The batter dipped pollock is salted just right. And the grilled white fish is seasoned just right to. It doesn't taste all watered down. The sweet tea is sweet. Their fountain drinks aren't flat or weird tasting. The Cole slaw is creamy and slightly sweetened. Not bland and mixed with only mayonnaise. And the fries are golden brown. I really got to enjoy Captain D's seafood. If you're near one then stop on in. You're stomach will thank you for not being so greasy. I know because I bought a pan of fish from another spot I had to walk a mile to just to pick it up. Bone city! And grease pooled on yhe bottom of the pan. Fingers were so greasy I might as well have drunk it straight from the pan. But not Captain D's. Trust me... your stomach will thsnk you for not...

First let me say my husband wanted to go there, he had to have a giant fish sandwich. I thought ok I'll get a clam strip dinner. So that's what I asked for with a drink. Well there's only one little girl working the window and the front. She hands me a cup of ice because the machine in the eating area is broke, well they should've put out of order on the whole machine, because the drinks were warm and flat also. So what ever is wrong that's not letting ice produce is affecting the drinks too. Then she finally hands me my bag, I look inside, they'd only 1 box, which I assumed was my clam dinner, well I assumed wrong because they don't sale clams in a dinner she says!!??? That's your clams and your fish sandwich. So I opened it up and one section had the huge sandwich and then the 2 little sections had my clams and one of those sections didn't have 5 clams in it. I said where the rest of my dinner? She said oh the clams only come by themselves not in a dinner. Why did you not tell me that and let me order sides say..oh you want me to put in an order of fries it something she replies. I said yes it thought I was getting fries and coleslaw and a couple hushpuppies, she has a bewildered look on her face... like did never heard of such and how to get the manager. Three manager never said a word to me, not a hero, how can I help you, nothing... the girl tries to tell her what I thought I was getting, etc... and turns to me again and ask if I want an add on...of fries and what else....I was like forget...

I Had a horrible experience with manager Kiley who messed up my order, did not apologize, had an attitude, was argumentative with me used profanity, and accused me of lying about my order. Waited an extra 15 minutes just for macaroni which I was not even advised I had to wait. When asked who above her I could talk to she said no one. Handed me food with no bag. She did not even attempt to remedy my issue even though she admitted to missing up my order nor did she provide any type of compensation for my inconvenience. I have never been to a captain d’s where a manager has been so rude, unprofessional, and just down right nasty to a paying customer after spending almost $50 I was disgusted and disappointed at this so called managers behavior and hostility towards me after leaving off items from my order. I need someone to follow up with me asap and answer for the treatment that I have been given. Not to mention I waited longer as she also forgot to bring my food back out to me. This was just so unacceptable and uncalled for. I do not know if I spelled her name correctly but I do that she is the daughter of the other manager that left right before she came in. This incident happened on 9-20-2024 at 5:23pm I spent an hour dealing with this situation and my food was cold by the time I got the “macaroni”. Which turned out to be just a cup full of cheese and like 10 noodles and not...
