For starters let it be known that I am not a vegetarian nor a vegan but I do support healthy eating alternatives. That being said let’s begin. Me and my wife decided to give this a new restaurant in town a try (we are both creatures of curiosity). Upon entering the establishment you are met with a plethora of herb and garden supplement options (if that’s the correct terminology). The owner has a well written and articulated menu describing the offered dishes. Me and the wife decided to settle with the “unburger” as it appeared to be the easiest option for us both. As we waited for our dish to be prepared we conversed with the owner about the new establishment in Aiken. We were pleasantly surprised to be made aware that all the meals are prepared with fresh ingredients and there are no artificial sweeteners or syrups used for flavoring. Once we received our meals we were pleased to see a vivid coloration of a mixture of different ingredients making up the Unburger. The dish was bursting with flavor and as if not like a cherry on top it was garnished with a house made Hummus. What a breath of fresh air—this spot on Whiskey Road near the Fresh Market serves vegetarian and vegan food only.
I ordered the “Happiness” sandwich on 12 grain bread with cucumber, zucchini, spinach, avocado, humus and mashed sweet potato spread. Plus, a cup of fresh carrot apple juice.
