We visited May Thai on the Sunday before thanksgiving. It’s been busy since the holiday season started. Three of us were dining for dinner and two of us Re vegetarians. The food was beyond delicious. We ordered the coconut milk soup with tofu (vegetarian), side order of rice noodle to go with the soup - the best combo ever; pad Thai with beef; pineapple fired rice with tofu and pad see ew (custom made vegetarian version). The owner P was amazing, and super attentive. We originally wanted to order the pad thai with Tofu and she was honest with us that the pad thai source is not vegetarian and it won’t taste like padthai without the source so she recommended the pad see ew instead, which turned out to be prefect. Not many restaurant would care about little details like that. Her effort in making sure that our dishes are vegetarian is above and beyond. She also check in with us about the food after they were served. It’s definitely a five star restaurant for the excellent food, amazing customer service and warm/cozy atmosphere. You gotta try it out! You won’t regret it. The Thai ice tea was...

Get something with the wide noodles!! Either the Pad Kee Mao or Pad See Ew, they have the best wide rice noodles I've had anywhere, they are so soft and fresh!! The Pad Thai is also delicious and for appetizers, we love their Roti with Yellow Curry (the roti is deliciously flaky and delicate on the outside and soft on the inside) or Taro Puffs (slightly sweet, creamy filling and melt-in-your-mouth tender pastry).

Beyond the food being delicious, the service is excellent! Everyone in here is so kind and attentive. We've eaten here a number of times, and if it's not too busy, the chef has even come out to check and make sure we were happy with the food!

Such a great place, one of my wife and my favorite restaurants, hands down. We try to come up with excuses to run errands in the area to come eat here from...

I’ve never been here before and somewhat new to Alameda so thought I would grab some Thai food here.

I got carry out: pad see ew, papaya salad and chicken wings coming to about $50 which took almost 40 min — only one person doing dinner service and cash register.

The chicken wings were so overcooked that most of meat was too hard to even eat I had to toss it — also too sweet for me. Heavy on the sugar.

The papaya salad had no fish sauce in it!?! A shock since I look forward to that flavor so had to get that on the side, but still didn’t taste right.

Lastly, the pad see ew tasted good, but I found a piece of hair and a staple in it. Thank God, I have good instincts and sensitivity that I caught it before I swallowed it.

Disappointed all around. Will...

May Thai Kitchen is a great spot for lunch when visiting the island. We stopped by on a Monday afternoon and were greeted and seated immediately. The staff was extremely polite and attentive. We decided on their crispy rice salad and tofu pad see ew. Both dishes came out within minutes. The crispy rice salad was a nice change from our regular order of papaya salad. Combining the crispy rice with the leaves of lettuce made for a nice contrast in textures. The salad was good, but I wish there was some kind of sauce we could have drizzled over the crispy rice to make it less dry. Their pad see ew was incredible. The noodles were cooked perfectly with a nice chewiness. Overall, a very good experience. We will definitely return.

The restaurant is casual and comfy. It is also a quiet venue to enjoy lunch. Service is attentive and friendly. Eats: Eggplants with sautéed vegetables and steamed jasmine rice for me. Yellow curry chicken with brown rice for my sister. Beverages: butterfly lemon iced tea and lychee tea. Food was delicious. I recommend the butterfly lemon iced tea. The tea is made with butterfly pea flower, which is supposed to be blue in color. Instead the tea looks similar to Jamaica agua fresca (made with hibiscus flower). It is not overly sweet and quite refreshing. Return visit to have the eggplants again but with an increase level of spiciness. Mild was just too mild, and I need to kick it up another notch to medium.
