Coming from "high reviews" such DISAPPOINTMENT.  I recently had the misfortune of dining at Monkey King restaurant, and I can honestly say it was one of the worst dining experiences I've ever had. The food was terrible, the service was atrocious, and the atmosphere was less than inviting. The service was just as bad as the food. The guy behind the bar was less than enthusiastic to get our order he was being rude. When we asked if we could sit outside he simply said "uh yeah you can just to-go the food then sit outside" uh okay, so we did. Not only did we order first and wait for literally 30 mins other people were getting their dishes first before us. They only had 4 out of the 5 dishes done. DO NOT GET "THE CHICKEN LARB" 🤢 Overall, I would highly recommend avoiding Monkey King restaurant. The food is terrible, the service is atrocious, and the atmosphere is less than inviting. If you're looking for ANY OTHER GOOD meals go somewhere else while they take advantage of drunk people when they order this "food" from this "pub". The spicy crab fries was aight.

I have been eating at Monkey King for years now, and I have always liked their food. Tonight was my first time eating back inside the restaurants since the covid pandemic. The restaurants is still set up the same, but the service has changed. You have to scan the code to see the whole menu at your table, or you can go up to the counter to order the food and pay. They provide paper menus at the counter, they will bring you water or the drinks you order but nomore waiter service. I went to Monkey King for dinner to celebrate the new year. I order different plates, and I got Mongolian Beef chow mien. Salt n pepper chicken wings, crab fried rice, orange chicken, pot stickers, egg rolls . They food was very fresh and tasted really good. I got there an hour after they opened and it was too packed at all which was great so our food came out quickly it wasn't a long wait . The parking is still the same wherever you can find one lol. I will definitely keep eat at the Monkey King & the Pub brew down the way. im still eating at Monkey King

This place has generated a lot of buzz in the last few years. So I decided to give it a try. First off I was not a fan whatsoever of this new order off the phone with no waiter. But the app instantly ask for a tip before any food is ever served. The new culture of tipping has definitely gotta out of control. I ordered the fried chicken, lemon pepper favor, garlic noddles and beef fired rice. All the food is served family side by the way. The chicken was extremely good. Fried to a crisp. The rice was a lil wet but still very good. But the big garlic noddles were horrible. No where on the menu did it mention that there were going to have peanuts. It had no lick of garlic favor. But still besides that I still give the over experience a 4/5. I will return and get the honey walnuts shrimp the next time.

Yesterday, while visiting a friend, she ordered from here. Now, I'm going to be honest. I come from Brooklyn, NY. I love Chinese food. I will say when I order " Let me get 4 chicken wings w/ pork fried rice. No onions or vegetables!". I knew the spot I went to was going to be delicious when I ordered it because it was Brooklyn... come on... lol.

However, since being here my wife and I only found a spot in SF's Chinatown that was truly up to par. So far, we ate at about 4 local chinese/asian spots in the Berkeley and Hercules area since moving here. All have been not too great of an experience for us. Very disappointing that we don't even bother to really even eat chinese/Asian food anymore. We just gave up hope lmao.

Butttt.... this spot. This spot... works. I ordered the Roast Pork Fried Rice with no green onions and a little bit of egg (Just starting eating egg in rice) and Korean fried chicken wings. She ordered the Monkey Rice w/o shrimp (They messed up her order and put shrimp and she listed that she is allergic to shrimp...smh. Not a good look and I'm talking off a star. This could have killed her if she ate it). They also forget her Lumpias (Taking off another star). We did not order late. It was 1 p.m. They need to do better with paying attention to what is written on the paper when making the food and ensuring all food is in the bag before sending it out for delivery.

Now, the food though was so delicious. I mean everything tasted fresh, seasoned good and the chicken was not full of only batter and no meat. On Doordash, it had 10k reviews and she said that the line of custumers are always out the door. I can see why. I brought some food home to my wife and she tore her plate down. She stated it was good as well. She was .

I reccomend this place for now, with the noted changes above needed. I plan to go in person to see if it will be the same...

Worst garlic noodles ever and possible food poisoning!!!!

I've been to this location before awhile ago and remember it being good so I decided to go here yesterday to pick up dinner. I ordered garlic shrimp noodles, garlic noodles with beef, and the Mexican street corn.

When I got home I noticed the noodles with beef were just swimming in a pool of murky liquid. Flavor wasn't bad but the beef tasted old. The garlic shrimp noodles tasted completely different as if they forgot the garlic and butter?! The corn was super sour and didn't taste like I remembered. I noticed a short while after eating my stomach was in so much pain and was taken over by stomach aches and nausea. To keep it short I spent the rest of the night in the bathroom.

I also remember while waiting for the food a table next to me sent back their garlic noodles because they didn't like it and as they brought it back to the kitchen I heard someone say "add shrimp to it". In the back of my head I was thinking the worst thoughts and praying that they weren't planning to recycle garlic noodles that were sent back to accommodate my order of garlic shrimp noodles. But after getting home both orders looked as if they may have been recycled with their unevenly lenthed noodles that almost looked like they were spat out or left overs from previous customers. And with the way I felt last night, it wouldn't surprise me if they recylce dishes that are sent back from all their complaining customers...which seemed to be quite a few while I was there yesterday!

I've had garlic noodles at many places and this is by far the worst and I never plan to return again. Do yourself a favor if you're craving garlic noodles by going somewhere else....Hang ten boiler is by far much better and in the same...

Music is stupid loud. But man is the food good. I have not had any negative experiences with the food yet I’ve ordered almost everything off of the menu.

For as many wait staff that there is though, they kind of lack good timing. As in they ask for your order three mins after reviewing the menu then send someone else another minute after that. If you ask for more time you’ll have to flag someone down. They are pretty nice though.

Don’t bother asking for your food a certain way because they will deny you. Asked for potstickers browned on both sides once and they said no, the chef will prepare it cooked on one side only.

The drinks are ok. The Incredible Hulk one or whatever was really gross. Had a margarita and it was just ok.

If you’re going to pick up an order, get there early. Had to wait 20 mins in line once to pick up my online order because there was a lady paying and she had some issue. Took them almost the whole 20 mins while I waited patiently to finally call another person over. No one even acknowledged the line or apologized. There was three people ahead of me when I got there and another three or four behind me by the time they got the extra person.

The food is...
