DON'T EAT ANYWHERE ELSE! There's barbeque....then, there's Woody's Q Shack in Alamosa. Glad I found this amazing place right on Main St. as THIS is the definition of what great BBQ is. Championship ribs with award ribbons on the wall prove that this special place has earned it's spot as amongst the best. Eat anything on the menu for lunch or dinner, 5 days a week (and I have!) and you'll know why. The owner Kyle has perfected the art of smoking brisket and pork butt - the most flavorful I've ever had. The sauce dispensing system is good for a grin too! Their food trailer with two smokers in it is perfect for large functions and to have professional quality BBQ at a corporate or large social function this good is about as fine as it gets. Want to feed 500 or 3,000 fast? Kyle does it right! Woody's serves great food without a long wait. They also offer family meals for carry out. Kyle is passionate about making his guests happy and his team is top notch. Don't miss out on a local favorite. Woody's again for me tonight!

On my current trip across the US I passed on bbq going through Kansas City in lieu of 888 Market. I am so glad I made this decision since it freed me up to try bbq elsewhere. I can't tell you how fortunate 1 was to find Woody's giving me another reason to visit beautiful Alamosa! When I saw the menu 1 was well pleased to see my favorite offering of burnt ends. Sadly I saw them on the 86 board but the guy behind the counter (osh 1 think his name was) was able to find some for me! That kind of service would make any customer happy The sauces, four of them in total were impressive My favorite was the smokey, sweet and hot KC style with celery seed like a cross between KC Joe and Gates. I drank it straight from the litle cup, If you find yourself passing through Alamosa you can't go wrong stopping here for some great q. They even had beer which sadly I passed on since 1 had to drive. The demeanor was clean and comfortable.

5 stars all the way! We ordered "Papa Jeff's Platter" for a chance to try a bunch of their meats and sides. The ribs were fantastic! All the other meats - brisket, pulled pork, turkey, sausage - were really good. The wings surprised us with how good they were. I really enjoyed the Baked Potato Salad (as opposed to their Potato Salad) and Campfire Beans, both of which are somewhat unusual sides, and both very good. My family usually prefers KC-style BBQ sauce, but not here; the "Hot" (which was not) and Original were well liked, but the Sweet was not (we thought it too sweet). The Platter is said to feed 6-8 people and it definitely would; the four of us were stuffed and we still took home leftovers. We would go out of our way to stop here again.

Food was excellent but why guilt us into tipping if we have to clean the table? Still left 20% but felt dirty about it.

Reply to kyle:

Thank you for the reply Kyle. Your food is excellent and I was not aware the side salad could not be used a side for the papa Jeff's platter, but that clears up why the cashier went to check (I thought it was to see if you guys had any left) it was listed on the sides part of your menu so it appeared to be an available side. The cash tip box plus the credit card reader makes it seem like a tip is expected and when we sat down the trash cans readily available with the "please don't throw away the forks" sign made it seemed like the expectation is that we clear out own tables which personally just annoyed me just a little as I had just done the same thing at another restaurant in salida the day before (your food was way better though) I'm sure you guys were likely very busy with to go orders as again your food is excellent and I did notice one couple beside ours who were dining in after us. Regardless of all that, my only rant is that with the multiple signs that tips are appreciated, I felt obligated to tip and then felt obligated to clean up the tables when I saw the trash cans and the "please don't throw away the forks sign"

This is not meant to offend you kyle, just letting you know how I felt and if I felt that way many others felt that way too and given your expertise in perfecting the ribs and wings, I felt you would appreciate knowing vs...

See below for recent UPDATE:

Whenever I order from Woody's Q, I cannot do it until I'm done with work after 6:00. I've tried to order a few different times but their menu is constantly sold out by the time I get to order at 6:15 or so. I understand it must mean they have good food but it's a real bummer to think that that's too late to order. I don't know why they can't order enough so that they have enough food to go around so that they can fit the demand of the customers needs. Hint hint it's how you make profit, but they don't seem to want to do that. Oh well whatever

UPDATE: having not tried this place for a while I decided to give it another go and I ordered my favorite meal which was the loaded baked potato always having good luck with that in the past they are delicious but now I have the exception to that it's unfortunately but I have this report the potato was pulled from the ground washed off and set in my to-go container it was not cooked at all it did not seem it was as hard as a rock and cold I wish I would not have driven all the way home to find that out because by the time I got to my home they were closed. I've learned my lesson from this and I have to say that sorry Woody...

Staff and atmosphere were excellent but I paid over a little over 25 bucks for the food (30 with tip) and the tiny portion of ribs I received was dried out, the coleslaw was not to my liking but the Mac and cheese was good. Clean bathrooms, super friendly staff, and I did like the atmosphere but the food was not worth the 25 bucks. Sorry....

Not sure how to reply so am adding my reply here.... So my total cost was 30, including tax and tip so I do apologize for that. I did edit my review to correct my mistake. So the cost for my meal with tax (without tip) was a little over 25. 20.50 for the ribs, 3.00 for the soda, tax was 2 bucks. I originally asked for the 2 meat meal but was told ribs weren't an option with that and was offered a rib plate. I was super sad that the ribs were dry, ribs are my favorite food and the whole reason I came. I've only been to your restaurant once and like I said, loved the atmosphere, it was clean and the staff was super friendly and might try it again but can't recommend the ribs based on...
