Love the atmosphere, service and menu options. Just because tourist season influences every business here, call ahead to check if something is available still or if the google maps hours have changed or not. The first day in, the lunch wasn't being served. Called ahead for the dinner time to verify that they still had King Crab and they did! Yippee!!! And forgot to ask if the Elk Loin was still available and unfortunately it wasn't that night. BUT they had elk meatballs which were just as special a treat! All the foods were done right. The crab wasn't overcooked and was sweet. And check out the tool kit you need tobuse to access all that meat! The meatballs were just thr right taste of game and even the gorgonzola fries had crispy fries under a perfect blend and amount of cheese. I am also very pleased that the shrimp was from PETERSBURG ALASKA. I've been to many Alaskan restaurants who have resulted to using farm raised foreign shrimp and that's just wrong. HERE was Petersburg bang bang popcorn shrimp. Bigger than your regular boxed frozen popcorn shrimp so don't that scare you away. AND the bang bang wasn't overly hot like some places make it so that it overwelms the shrimp flavor. This bang bang shrimp was delicious. Enjoy your meals here!

We only came for the food while we browsed downtown Skagway and it was phenomenal! It’s a small, quaint little restaurant and it has a very home like feel to it. Customer service was outstanding when you first walk in and they greet you with warm smiles and friendly and present service. It is pretty pricey, but the portions were reasonable and the quality of food was exceptional. We shared the salmon puff and fish and chips and they were both delicious! The salmon puff was crunchy and crisp. Had the perfect fried flavor housing plentiful salmon inside. Same goes for the tender and flavorful halibut too. It was fried perfectly, and the side salad that came alongside with it was one of the best I’ve ever had. Fresh veggies and a delectable dressing paired alongside it. The draft Kodiak ale we ordered paired perfectly with our meals as well. A perfect meal boost for our tourist vacation along Skagway.

My family and I visited this bistro one week ago on a cruise, and I'm still confused and mortified by the treatment we got.

All was well while we were eating. My mom and aunt thought their salads were sub-par but I liked the chowder a lot. Then the server comes around to collect our bills. My mom isn't very tech savvy and bungled the tip, but I thought it wouldn't be a big deal since we were all going to tip more and I would add some on top.

The server looked at her tip and said "wow... okay, wow. That's... I need you to tip at least 15%..." which is fair, sure.

My uncle responded "well Jesus only tipped 10%" which is also fair, as it's not mandatory to tip, just rude if you don't at all.

The server called us rude, stingy, fighting back and forth saying "you don't know how hard I work, the season is ending and I have to protect myself. You know what? I'm adding on 15% anyways for gratuity, because uh... it's a table of 5 or more." Completely lying, we're sure.

Everyone was confused about why she was so mad, and kept running her mouth about how terrible we were, talking back to my family, being just generally mean, over what?

My uncle said "Well, we'll never be back here again." and she replied "Well of course not, you're on a cruse, duh." Completely uncaring of us or how rude she was being.

At that point she came to collect my bill. $28 for a bowl of soup with her mandatory tip. I added another 8% on top to get her attention and told her "please, I worked at Sonic in the Texas heat for $4.25/hr, I get that you work hard, please, just stop making it worse."

And she threw up her hands and started in on me. At that point, I was flushed red with anxiety and wanted to cry at how she was talking to us. I get working hard for your money, and waves of tourists coming in each day, but talk smack about them in the kitchen, not to their faces.

And yes, I plan on going back to visit Skagway, and I'll be sure and let everyone know to tip really really REALLY well if they don't want to get talked down to by a server.

terrible service not great salads chowder was pretty good and gluten free tip well or the staff will attack you the staff especially don't care about you if...

My husband and I decided to take a trip to Skagway to be there and see it for the first time in our lives after 25+ years of living in Alaska. We decided to stay at this historic Skagway Inn because we thought we wanted to stay in the most historic areas and facilities that we could come up with. We arrived and we checked in very early in the morning and then we went and did multiple things throughout the day ending up back there at roughly 5 o’clock at night in time to enjoy our first meal at the Skagway Inn-Olivia‘s. The meal itself was delicious We both loved our separate meals and were pleasantly surprised at how it rivaled everything in Anchorage. The salmon spread was delicious. We each had a salad and both salads were delicious. The meal was wonderful. Then we went upstairs to our room and got to look around there and it was everything you wanted to be. Historic on the walls, historic on the model, historic in everything in there. We just loved it. Breakfast was a set meal for all of us staying there. Partly made from their garden, it was light and refreshing. Are we coming back – yes. We loved it so much. We are actually going to reschedule and bring some of our family with us this time. It was just too wonderful to miss. And if we had a bucket list, this would be a huge checkmark on our...
