It’s a weird experience, but it’s fabulous seafood. We’ve never been to Crackin Crab, and we didn’t do any research, so we didn’t know what to expect, except maybe good crab. Cut to the chase: our crab, shrimp, and scallops were excellent. The experience and process were a bit strange, but we fell in love with it all afterward. So first, the menu isn’t obvious; yes, you can order several products like crab, crab legs, mussels, and more by the pound, and you pick one of two sauces. The combinations were less clear until we saw you have three options (cast, drift, or gill), which you get a set number of three or four seafood options. We tried #1 (ā€œcastā€), which was 1lb of snow crab, 1 lb of headless shrimp, and 1/2 lb of scallops in one sauce. We decided to go with the Lemon Pepper sauce, which was outstanding. Now, you sit down at a table covered in plastic. You get a plastic bib to wear (and yes, don’t feel silly, put it on; you’ll need it!), and the food comes in a clear plastic bag with a ā€˜garbage can’ in plastic for all the shells and mess you’ll make. It’s weird, it’s odd, you don’t get any dinnerware, and you eat with your hands out of this bag. But the food was terrific! And it’s messy but fun activity food. For just under $60, two and a half pounds of great seafood, one little red potato, and two pieces of corn is a screaming deal. My wife and I were stuffed to the gills (no pun intended here). The sauce worked well with both the fish and the corn. We were concerned the Crackin Sauce might overpower the seafood. The lemon sauce was perfect, but we may ask for a taste of the other sauce next time. You are also supposed to get a sausage, but my wife requested some coleslaw instead, and our server was very accommodating. You are supplied two tools to crack open the shells; there’s one plastic device (shell slicer) I’ve never used before that did an excellent job of slicing through those crab legs. But what a bloody mess; a bowl to eat out of would have helped, but once you get into the eating action and understand everything is protected in (ugh, guilt trip) plastic, you can enjoy the meal. Our server, Cathy, was excellent; the food came out quickly, and yes, I would go back. The good news for us is there is a location in Santa Fe. I didn’t take any pictures, which I usually do with all reviews; there isn’t anything you want to view; it is not visually appetizing, but taste-wise, it was delicious. I think this would be an ideal takeout restaurant. You could ask for a few pounds of what you want in different sauces, take your bag home, use actual dinnerware, and make some nice bread to soak up the sauce, but dining...

This is for the Santa Fe store not alb .. I worked there n they tried to scam me on my hours by saying I didn't work my hours n how there computer doesn't lie n also trying to pay me in cash n saying that they wont pay me for being there early eeven tho i was told to try n get there early, a red flag. N once they got told thats not legal or right and refused the cash they then told me to come in the next day n tell them my hours , n the following day there computer suddenly had all my hours . So in other words I almost got scammed. Not to mention Everytime they would get a order, what should take three to five minutes takes them 10 . I've seen it literally the km see n hears a order come in n walks away to conversate for like 5 minutes so yeah it's a lack of selfawaress or just being lazy.. not to mention how they get like 10 tables a day max n yet somehow run out of everything.. but I got paid still in cash but at least they gave me a receipt since they still took tax out Wich I thought if u get cash it's not deducted but still not right .. I give the food a 3 to 4 star but with everything else including me almost getting burned n the owner acting like I was only there 2 days they get a zero star if I could cuz it's the first place ever where I almost had to go to the income support division n sueing someone . (All the real employees were supper cool even the km but the owner tried to burn me including manager till they realised everyone...

My cousin and I decided to try this place, as it was closer to us. It was his suggestion. We walk in and there was about 5 other parties there and got seated. We were seated at a half booth table and I sat on the booth side of the table. The seat was just a flat piece of hard wood. Very uncomfortable. Then the waitress came, honestly she was kinda rude. She had a ā€œšŸ™„ā€ attitude. We placed our order and had the family pack I ordered extra sausage, corn and potato. The food came out and it was just warm. I normally don’t complain and just go with it but I cut into my sausage and the middle was cold. I informed the waitress and she said she would bring out another one and 5min later she brings out a sausage link in a bag and just drops it on the table ā€œhere you goā€ I took the sausage out and put it in the other bag to get some seasoning bag, it would have been nice to have it seasoned but not a big issue. I wanted to ask them to reheat the rest of the food but I just ate it. I asked for another order of potatoes and was brought of one single potato in a bag. Threw it in the other bag and seasoned it. For two of us the total was about $60 with tip. I wouldn’t eat there again. I don’t mind paying that much but i would at the very least expect HOT food and it would be nice for them to ask if you would like to have add-ins seasoned. I was going to order more food but didn’t want to go through all the trouble. The Coke was good. That’s a...

Had a hard time deciding to go here or other crab places. Glad we made the decision to go here. The cajun boil bags were amazing. I got 2 lbs of crab in my bag and it came with a potato and corn for about $55. My husband got 2 lbs of crab and 1 lbs of mussels for about $70. Was totally worth it as it was a large portion that took us a while to get through. Keep your bag twisted close as you go and the crab will stay warm. I got a side of rice to pour the extra sauce over. Word of advice, the hot sauce is so delicious but will make your nose run. Ask for extra gloves so you can change them to wipe your nose. The nice Asian ladies working yesterday had great service as well! The only thing is I wish they had more sides to choose from. I love Mac and cheese, mashed potatoes, biscuits, and other things with my crab.

First time trying this place and I really liked it. They have different choices of sauces they can add to your order. I got the Dungeness crab cluster with Crackin' sauce hot. It wasn't very hot where you could not enjoy your food and it was a great flavor. We also ordered the peeled and deveined shrimp with Lemon Pepper which was also really good. I would return as well as recommend this restaurant. We added the sausage and corn to our boils and the corn was so good and very sweet, I would suggest these additions also. Pricenis reasonable and of course based on market value of the seafood you order. If you read my review, please hit the like button. Thank you

Although there are a few places in the Albuquerque area offering cajun seafood boils I say cracking crab is the best in town. They have 2 locations and offer a large variety of seafood options ranging from king crab, snow crab, shrimp mussels, clams and scallops all covered in the sauce of your choice accompanied with potatoes, corn on the cob and sausage. Make sure to bib up because this is a go in with your hands kind of a meal and I strongly suggest to avoid wearing white. I think they offer the best bang for your buck as well as delicious taste. Make sure to order up some cajun fries also and dip em in your cajun boil sauce! šŸ¤¤šŸ„”šŸŒ½šŸ¦€šŸ¦
