Mariscos La Playa is a little gem in Albuquerque. My husband and I ate there yesterday; I felt like I was in Mexico again in a little Mexican Cantina. The atmosphere was a wonderful tropical Mexican feel with traditional Mexican music playing in the background. The menu had a large variety of Mexican seafood, as well as, traditional Mexican food. I ordered the Relleno and my husband ordered the Grilled Marlin Tacos. The food was absolutely delicious! The relleno was a steamed trout in butter sauce, flayed open and stuffed with scallops, octopus and shrimp with cheese lightly laced over the top. My mouth is watering just remembering how excellent it was. The portions were large; with the relleno came white rice, potato wedges, a mix of corn and carrots lightly buttered and a small lettuce and tomato garnishment with a slice of avocado. The trout was cooked so it just melted in my mouth, the scallops were tender, the octopus pieces were not rubbery and chewy as some places serve it and the shrimp were delicate morsels. The grilled Marlin tacos had decent sized pieces of marlin in four soft corn tortillas with lettuce and tomatoes and a side of salsa. With the tacos, there was white rice and potato wedges. I had a couple bites of his tacos which were very good (mine was better, lol). We will definitely be going back to Mariscos La Playa and hope to bring extended family.

I love the decor here, it is colorful and fits with the seafood/under the sea theme. The seafood was fresh and clean. Small glass cocktail: coctel Gloria Small (seafood combo) My favorite with with octopus, shrimp, and scallop. More sweet. With cucumbers: Mariscada Fria- This had more chile and acid which was strong but refreshing. In tin foil: Fileted Marinero (tilapia wrapped in foil with scallop shrimp and cheese)

My husband has been trying to get me to come here for ages, and I am so glad we went! This place was awesome. Right away, you could smell all of the camarones and seafood wafting out to you. There is decent amount of seating inside, as well as a bar, and some outdoor seating. My partner and I ordered the combination plate (de camarones) and the caldo fresco. The combination plate offered 4-5 different shrimps along with rice and some lettuce and tomatoes and some delicious fries. It was good, but the caldo was amazing!! It had a great variety of seafood in it and after you put some tapatío and lime in it, yum! It came with crackers to eat and the bowl was huge and perfect for sharing! Theres also a kids menu with a decent variety (and yes, chocolate milk as well). The staff was quick and friendly and attentive. We will definitely be coming back here again! The only thing is the prices you see in the photos are a little outdated. Add about $1-2 to each dish/item you see and it'll be more accurate. But...

Highly Recommended - I was in the mood for a seafood cocktail. Thinking I would have a large Coctel Gloria for dinner, I asked the waitress for recommendations. The menu is full of excellent choices, and she steered me to the Tacos al Patron - a combination of grilled beef, bacon and shrimp. I opted for the small cocktail and tacos. WOW the cocktail was stuffed with a generous offering of mixed seafood and the tacos were fantastic. I frequent taquerias, and have never had anything like these tacos. The combination of the beef, bacon and shrimp was a perfect marriage of flavors. The restaurant is bright and clean with an upbeat atmosphere. Carla, my server, was wonderful. As I walked through the restaurant I noticed that everyone I passed was enjoying their meal. I will come back, but it will be hard not to order the...
