We got sat right away. Our server was friendly I think it was his first day we heard him saying that and he said he was new. Placing the order was pretty difficult then after a very long wait our food came out. We were missing sausage and crab legs from our order by time we realized we didn’t want to say anything because he got slammed in his section and was trying to keep up with everyone. We didn’t get the right buttery sauce we ordered…oh well! but man the seafood bread was amazing like always and they gave us a sharpie to write on the walls. After dinner we went to wash our hands I put my fingers under the sink and they got burned they still hurt and feel numb an hour later. There was literally steam coming out. There were small signs that said caution hot water, but I didn’t see them until it was too late. They didn’t charge us for the crab and sausage we didn’t receive we still tipped him well I know restaurants are hurting, the food tasted good, we were also there for 2 hours eek that’s a very long time. We told management about the hot water, she listened and apologized. I feel all staff seemed overwhelmed they said the cooks were new too. We saw hiring signs, I feel bad writing all this because they were probably doing their best but the hot water… I want that known to all because if my daughter or anyone else’s child would have put there hands under there their could have been a problem. That needs to...
Read moreOk, so the food was good (not great, but not bad). We felt like the mussels and shrimp were a bit overcooked. We also felt like we got a good amount of food for what we paid. (4 people $100 including tip).
But we were totally turned off by the atmosphere as soon as we walked in. There were claw machines on both sides of the entrance that had scribbles on them making it feel like we were walking into a ghetto restaurant. And it continued. All the walls and beams had writing on them. I get this might be their theme, but it made the place look like a dump. And then everything was sticky on our table. Chair backs, napkin holder , the table itself. Just gave us a gross feeling.
We've been wanting to try this place for awhile and while the food and service are worth returning, I doubt we will go back because the inside if the building and cleanliness just left us with a bad vibe. I think if they would clean it up and get rid of what I would call "graffiti" and it might bring more customers in.
*side note-all of us did like the round tray that they used to put the boil in. Instead of keeping the...
Read moreWe just recently visited the cracking crab while in New Mexico. We were definitely worried how seafood was going to fare in this land locked state, but it was delicious. So we decided to spread the love and try a new seafood place. Don’t eat here. The seafood boil has absolutely no flavor. When I asked how it was cooked I was informed the seafood is boiled separately from the seasonings and sauce that it is served with. Well that changes things. Seafood cooks very quickly. It’s like pasta - if you don’t season when cooking your pasta will drag down your whole plate. I told the manager I was willing to speak to the chef. The chef didn’t care to come out. When my son paid the bill and informed the manager that he was a master boiler in Texas for a crawfish company he was told “you shouldn’t eat seafood in New Mexico”.
Well my response to that, Chef and Manager - go eat at the Cracking Crab and learn how to cook.
Also- they took our partially eaten boils back to the kitchen to show the chef. Pretty sure that’s going to get served to...
