El Texano Bar and Grill — Restaurant in Alexandria

This is a difficult review. The food warrants more than 3 but I'm reviewing the establishment overall. So my family and I have been here twice to dine-in and once for take-out for our bigger group.

The food photos are from our first experience which was great. There was 1 person working the whole place and the place was kind of empty but I can see lots of online orders going out which is good because I was thinking I would be back in the future. The different tacos, nachos, sides, pupusa were all tasty. If you order the pupusa, make sure to eat it first though! Service was pretty quick and we had an overall, good experience.

So then we had a group order which, understandably, took longer than was projected on the website so fine.

But when we went back to dine-in a 2nd time, it wasn't as satisfying as the first. The service was slow, the food was probably the same in tastiness, but the slow service probably affected that a bit. I'm hesitant to go back for a 3rd but some of their specials are tempting. The specials are posted on their front window and there's something for every weekday--we just haven't had a chance to get there when the specials...

Okay so I love me some birria tacos me and my coworker went for lunch....you get three beef birria tacos which came to like 18 bucks...I get them to work to eat and it literally look like a scoop of meat they put in there...a good teaspoon of meat...my coworker got her tacos they looked full mine barely had anything and it was soooooo greasy at the bottom to the point my tacos was soggy and falling apart....this was my first and last time...it was such a disappointment because I pay my money to expect more than and scoop at the bottom...even taco bell give u enough to taste thru the whole taco shell....they gave more onions than meat and for 18 bucks It shouldn't have looked the way it did....I didn't have time to take it back because my break was only 30mins...the waitress was super nice but come on now....I even took a pic because it was just horrible...I got more onions and tortilla than what I expected...even my coworker said what is that? We are...

9.5/10 flavor. 10/10, for the cook time, 8/10 the vibe/atmosphere. Walked in, Ordered the Birria Pizza, 10 mins later it's ready. It was so good I'm only eating a piece or two every few hours so I can savor it. (Went at an off time so I can't really rate the atmosphere). Everyone looked friendly and there wasn't loud music playing, but there werent any people so i cant fully rate it.) Took a break to grab food, after getting this place recommended to me by a guy in a nearby car dealership. The dipping sauce was fantastic as well. It's been a few hours and they are even good reheated, but you might want to use a small oven or something if you want them more crispy. Oh and there is a 1 star review from 9 months ago saying the restaurant is closed but it was open when I went and the owner explained a car hit the building and they were repairing it. It is open now and the food I got...
