Well, service was the best part of our evening. It wasn't particularly busy, being 4 pm on a Sunday, but we must have caught the kitchen staff at shift change. Our waitress was really friendly without being obnoxiously overbearing, though. She kept our drinks filled and came by just often enough that showed her attentiveness without being over the top annoying.
We ordered our app, then ordered our meals just before our app came out. She told us it would be about 15 minutes. That would've been great. It would've been right around the time we finished our app. Well, we finished our app and waited. And waited. And waited. I commented to my husband, "This is the longest 15 minutes ever." Just a couple of minutes after I said that, the manager came up to us and explained that the kitchen was going through shift change and our ticket got pushed back. That explained why people who came in after us were already eating. She offered us a cup of gumbo while we waited. A cup of gumbo. It was still probably another 15 minutes before our food finally came out. By this time, I was about done with the whole experience.
Now the food. We ordered alligator for our appetizer, and it was fine, but the remoulade had a bit too much mustard for my taste. My husband ordered the Catfish Atchafalaya, and he said it was good. It was steaming hot, as far as I could see. I ordered the Fettuccine Alfredo with blackened chicken. The waitress told me to watch the bowl, that it was very hot, but I've felt tap water hotter than that bowl. The sauce had already started to congeal and had leached to the bottom of the bowl. The chicken was more blackened than chicken, and I wish I could say that it was because of the spices. Nope...just grilled to death. Even the garlic toast had seen better days. Obviously, my bowl had sat up under the heat lamp while waiting for my husband's order. I couldn't wait for him to be done so we could leave. The waitress offered a to-go box, which I politely declined. We even passed on dessert, which is unusual for us. We got our ticket and paid (the full amount...no discount for us!), and even left the waitress a substantial tip. It wasn't her fault the kitchen was a screw-up.
This wasn't our first time there, but it had been a while since we'd been there. We've always had pretty good service and enjoyed the food before. I just wish they had more options than chicken or seafood. They have a ribeye or hamburgers or poboys if you want anything else. There's more to Cajun cuisine than chicken and seafood. I'm sure we will be back, but I promise it won't be at...
Read moreI recently had the privilege of being served by Lynnea, and it was nothing short of stellar. From the moment we were seated, Lynnea greeted us with a warmth that felt both professional and genuinely welcoming. She was attentive without being intrusive, anticipating our needs with an almost psychic precision. Every recommendation she made, from the appetizers to the entrée, was spot on, enhancing our dining experience with her insightful suggestions.
Lynnea's knowledge of the menu was impressive; she articulated the flavors and textures with such passion that each description seemed to bring the dishes to life before they even arrived. When the food was presented, it was clear that her descriptions were no mere embellishments. The attention to detail didn’t stop at the menu; she noticed when our water was low, when we needed extra napkins, and she never let a single empty plate linger.
But it was Lynnea's infectious enthusiasm and her ability to engage with us on a personal level that truly set this experience apart. She shared stories, laughed with us, and made us feel like we were the only patrons in the restaurant. It's rare to find someone who not only excels at their job but also elevates the entire atmosphere of an establishment. Lynnea did just that. It was an incredible experience that we won’t soon forget.
Thank you, Lynnea, for making our evening so special. Your exceptional service and delightful personality shone as brightly as the TV’s situated across the entire restaurant. We can't wait to return and hope to see you...
Read moreThe food is great. The staff is nice and friendly. The facility is super clean. The restraunt was filled with TV screens, LSU, sports memorabilia, and music. It has high vibrations but you can still hear yourself talk, it's not over whelming like a club so you can bring the family here and everyone will have a good time. There is so much space with plenty of seating options. My husband and I went during happy hour. We ordered one spirited drink, two cups of ice water, Boom Boom shrimp, buffalo wings, and spinach dip to taste test because it was recommended by the waitress. There is a full bar. We sat at the bar, and there were a lot of couples at the bar. The single guy was mingling with a young lady in no time. This must be the hookup spot. The bartender staff is really friendly and talkative, so if you come alone, sit at the bar and you will not feel alone. Even if you dont drink, they have several beverage options, including cold ice water, which is free. Everything was really good. The menu holds a ton of options for the heartiest appetites. For a great time, great energy, great food, friendly staff, and a clean environment this is the place to relax and disconnect from the world, meet new people, and disconnect from the rest of the world just for a moment.
