My wife and I love some Pei Wei.  It is usually a really great quick meal, especially if our schedules align we can meet up during week for lunch, as there is a location exactly between both of our offices.

Sadly the restaurant in Allen is one of the worst locations around the area. We have had takeout/eaten here a few times with horrid results.  Last night was one of the worst yet!  We ordered three things: Lettuce Wraps (gotta have those to ensure you don’t eat the entire meal so you have left overs for lunch next day, plus they are always so delicious and melt in your mouth), Kung Pao Chicken, and Honey Seared Chicken.

Lettuce Wraps: They were still delicious, but they only gave four minuscule pieces of lettuce.  Had to eat the rest with a fork. They were so small they could barely contain one spoon full of the delicious innards.

Kung Pao Chicken: My fav is the General Tso’s (since the original delicious and awesome orange chicken was killed off) but I opted to try something different, ‘spice things up’ so to speak. I should have stuck with the good stuff, as it was undercooked and made me sick.

Honey Seared Chicken: This is one of my wife’s favorite dishes they serve.  The presentation of the food was horrific.  It was like they scraped the breading off the chicken. There were lumps of soggy gross breading throughout and the chicken was chewy and bad quality.  I am shocked that they would have served it like this, as there’s no way they didn’t notice it when packaging it up.

Ultimately it is my fault for not double checking it before I left, but I was rushing around to get back to my wife and the baby who finally fell asleep and we had a few minutes to eat dinner while she napped.  On the flip side of the coin, I never have had these issues with any of the other locations we frequent, it is ALWAYS the Allen one that has major issues.

It is my hope that people go to other locations first before visiting this location.  It would be sad to lose future reoccurring customers due to the poor staff/cooking that this location...

As long time customers of this restaurant, we have made the difficult decision to no longer frequent this location. Regretfully, the quality and consistency of food has declined considerably over the past 12 to 18 months. This combined with a noticeable decline in cleanliness of store and staff was the final determining factor. We visited location on New Year’s Day 2019, and we spent $29+ for two people. Hey - at this amount you should expect a quality meal and experience.

However, despite an up-charge, over half of my plate was filled with COLD quinoa, and I consider that the over generous portion of cold quinoa was a tactic used to camouflage the noticeably small protein portion that I should have received with my “large” order, as well as the absence of extra vegetables I purchased – both being subject to an up-charge. To add to this, you can expect about 50/50 odds on whether or not your quinoa will be served hot.

In terms of cleanliness, the ice deflectors on both of their ice / soda machines have been and remain covered with a nasty red algae like substance. I’ve noticed this for some time now, and can only question when the last time a health inspector has visited this location. I guess they are waiting until someone gets seriously ill? The final nail in the coffin for us came at the end of our meal. When using the men’s restroom, I observed one of the cooks at the urinal still wearing his cooking apron. And, perhaps to make a quick exit, he DID NOT wash his hands. So, enough is enough – for just a few dollars more we could have enjoyed a much higher quality meal and experience at one of the many other options...

The computers have been down the last few times we tried to order. Tonight's order went through, but when my husband went to pick it up the computers were down again and it took forever. He drove 15 minutes home before he realized part of our order was missing. I sat on hold for 15 minutes as I drive back to attempt to get my child's dinner. Once inside the restaurant, I was informed they were no longer taking orders (even though this is an order they should have had from an hour earlier). The manager told the lady at the cash register he was too busy to speak with me. I was frustrated, so I walked over to where he was and he said the whole kitchen would fall apart if he stepped out to help/speak with me. Smoke coming out of my ears at this point, I left and said we'd never be back. I get it...the computers going down makes for a stressful night, but there was absolutely no customer service here. While the lady behind the register was polite, she was unable to offer me any solution. I mentioned to her that the computers seem to have been down the last several times we tried to order and she said, "yes, this always happens on Sundays." We won't be back, but if you plan to go to Pei Wei in Allen, I'd avoid at all...

**UPDATE** I went and got take out again last week. I ordered the Boubon Chicken with noodles instead of rice. I also ordered the Chicken Teriyaki with Brown Rice from the kids menu. I had a free appetizer that was sent to me via text and I chose the egg roll. I've added photos of all. The portions are generous and the food was good. Went and got take out at Pei Wei. It's been a long time since I've eaten at Pei Wei and never at this location. Restaurant was clean and food was prepared fresh. After picking it up I had to stop for gas but when I got home and took the food out it was actually steaming hot! It tasted really good and I feel like the portion size was great. I did pay extra for the noodles rather than the rice. I will ask for extra sauce next time because there were so many noodles they were a little dry. I will be back.

My husband & I love Pei Wei but this evenings meal was underwhelming. The front girl is very friendly & welcoming. All the tables were very clean. My dish arrived and the Kung Pao looked great! But one bite in, and the sauce was so, sooo salty. Sadly, the sauce was all over the chicken, and the fried rice sat in the sauce. I only ate the veggies. Paid a little over $40 and couldn't eat my entrée. My husband had orange chicken and liked it. We also ordered crab wontons and pork eggrolls. The eggrolls were excellent.
