Since moving to Florida form New Jersey a little over a year ago, I've been searching for my new Indian food spot. This place would be my 6th attempt at trying new Indian restaurants to try and find "the one." From the second we walked in to the second we left we felt like family. The staff was super friendly and welcoming not only to my wife and I, but also to our two kids. They were asking them questions and making them feel like they were apart of the dining experience as well, not just my wife and I. The prices are super comparable to any other Indian restaurant in a 25 mile radius, but where this place stands out is their dedication to fresh, bold flavors.
We started out with the kohinoor special appetizer which comes with a plethora of different delectable bites packed with flavors of fresh spices and herbs. I don't like lamb and the little lamb kebabs that came with the appetizer might have been my favorite bite of the night. The chicken tikka was the most tender, moist and delicious chicken tikka I've ever tasted. It had a great char from the tandoor but still held its juicy integrity. Everything came to the table super hot and clearly heated up on the stovetop or in the fryer, not put in a microwave like 80% of the restaurants these days.
For our mains we just got two orders of the chicken tikka masala, not only because it was a safe bet but because we had our kids and we know they would like it. The one issue I constantly find with chicken tikka masala's is that the sauce is either too creamy or too spiced. This sauce was the perfect balance of tomato, cream and spices, nothing in this dish over powered the other.
I can't stress this enough, WILLY IS THE BEST WAITER MY FAMILY AND I HAVE EVER HAD. He's super sweet and friendly and was playful with our kids, he was interacting with them and asking them questions. My son asked him for some candy and Willy made sure that our son asked mommy and daddy before we gave him some. Even if the food sucked, which it did not, we would come back just to say hi to Willy.
We will be back many times before we move away. A must try in the Casselberry/ Altamonte...
Read moreKohinoor is EASILY one of the very best Indian restaurants in all of Orlando! I love Indian food and I have been to a LOT of different restaurants and this is one of the very best. Kohinoor has some of the best Indian dishes I’ve ever tried, has incredible service, and has the best pricing I have seen anywhere! BE SURE to try this place out during their lunch buffet - they have a different menu every day of the week, and Monday-Thursday it’s only $14 per person! Less than $10 per person if you’re ordering take-away…for the quality of food you’re getting, it’s an incredible deal!!
Kohinoor has the best tandoori chicken I have ever tasted, some of the best rice pudding I’ve ever tried, and their aloo pakora (basically a fried potato) is completely addicting…I had way too much of that, haha! Their butter chicken is also incredible, and we really liked their shahi paneer. Honestly, everything was extremely flavorful and so, so good! It might not be the biggest buffet in the world, but at least each option is REALLY good, and if you try everything, you’ll still be stuffed. I love that they are constantly rotating their menu every day, so you can come all the time and try something different.
They bring fresh naan to your table with the lunch buffet, and it’s great, classic buttery naan. The regular menu also has a great selection of dishes including regional dishes you don’t find at other Indian restaurants! Also, a special nod to the people working at Kohinoor - they are so friendly and happy and really a joy to be around! They have great employees here. I can’t wait to come back! I will be...
Read moreSmelled absolutely astonishing the moment the door opened. The owner was there to greet us within seconds of walking in the door. Your eyes can’t help but drift to the beautiful wall decor as you look around the room. The lunch buffet has the perfect variety of sweet and spicy options and a great selection for those who prefer a little more “down the middle” taste. The various amount of options available was perfect because they give you a variety of dishes to try without it being too many options so that way you know it’s always fresh and hot instead of just rushing it out of the kitchen to keep the lines stocked. The food was very rich in flavor and did not disappoint in the slightest. What stood out to me most of all was the amazing friendly service by the owner. He was very kind and loved to see the smiles on the faces of his happy customers. When it came to the bill you will feel just as good as the food you just ate, very reasonably priced for the experience you will have at this small hidden gem of a restaurant. If you want a nice quiet place to go and enjoy some delicious foreign cuisine then stop your search because this is your place. I’d highly recommend this to anyone looking to try somewhere new. Will definitely be returning for more...
