This store still explicitly allows Dashers to come into the lobby to access the delivery pickup. Unfortunately, in the few dozen times I have come back, the order sits there incomplete. Every time I have to flag down someone in the kitchen and ask them to prepare drinks. The other day, I had an order with 5 drinks and some fries, and when I went to get it only the fries were ready. The employees didn't even realize there WERE drinks. It took about 15 minutes for the drinks to be ready as well, after a single employee took it upon themselves to not only complete the order but also to manage the grill and what seemed like the entire front end. While they made the shakes, other employees and management watched them instead of helping in any of it. No one was tending to the drive thru, and the rest of the work was left to a single person.
I highly recommend employees at this location consider unionization
Original Review: The franchise owner, Theresa, directs Doordash drivers to park in the disabled parking instead of making the timers run. Steak n Shake is contractually obligated to allow Dashers to pick up food from any area that customers can pick up food. So not only are they blatantly ignoring a contract signed by Steak n Shake as a corporation, but they are also ignoring very, very clearly posted laws regarding accessible parking. Luckily, after documenting the incidents that Steak n Shake happily caused, Doordash has filed an official report for breach of contract regarding this location. Hopefully one day Theresa can realize that not only are delivery services NOT her employees to treat terribly, but also that she shouldn't be treating her...
Read moreUpdate 2021: I continue to have terrible service in the drive thru and pickup. Tonight, ordered online for pickup and still was gipped out of one LG cheese for the cheese fries and the two additional cheese sauces I paid for. How do they never pay attention to the orders?! I called to request a refund to my card and was told they can't refund my card but can give me cash next time I'm in the area. What?! That's the strangest, but I will definitely be stopping by for it. Tired of letting them keep ripping me off. The lady on the phone, Michelle, was very nice, though.
I am giving 1 star simple due to the poor service at the drive-thru. This does not reflect the service inside the store as I would give that a 4 star. I cannot stand the drive-thru at this Steak'n Shake. I make my husband go inside to eat when he wants to go here because the line service is awful. It takes forever and the customer service at the window is the worst. They literally screw my order up every time I go through the drive-thru. One time they forgot to put guacamole on my guac burger!!! Another time I waited 15 minutes to even get to order (line was moving very slow) and then the gentleman who took my order was very cold. He had a bad attitude and that just made me angry. After he handed me my food I sat there a little while longer. He opens the window and says, "Yes?" in a very snubbed manner. I said in an angry tone, "Can I have my drink?" He came back with my drink and never apologized or acknowledged the mistake. I vowed after that trip to never go through the drive-thru here again. That...
Read moreI used to love steak and shake, but I'm pretty sure I've eaten the last bowl of their chili that I can handle. It is just not the same anymore, burgers, chili etc. I went in to wash my hands after ordering on the touch screen that everyone else in the world has touched, wow! almost wish I could have unordered. The bathroom looked and smelled like it hadn't been cleaned for a while, every toilet had toilet paper laying around it on the floor, and the urinals were discusting as well. I'm thinking what is the kitchen condition on the other side of the wall. The floors seemed kind of lightly coated with cooking oil or grease, the table and seats were not clean. This place was and could still be great but not sure what the corporate ceos and management are going to do with today's work force, it makes you wonder is this just how lazy our future generations of workers are or is it the management because something has changed. I'd just asoon go back to ordering off a menu, from a waitress in a somewhat clean restaurant, than order off a kiosk, and scan a QR code to fill up a drink, in a nasty environment. Seems like a lot of the companies money has been spent on technology to try and eliminate the expensive workforce but you now kind of have a sub par destination not hardly worthy of stopping when there is still a lot of competition out there. In my opinion quality always wins, and this experience was not that, sorry if I've offened anyone but this is the...
