Update 1: We went back again, and all the safety precautions were taken properly. Up to 4.5 stars.
Update 2: We got take out and I requested no cilantro and no peanuts. I considered double checking, but the bag was tied super tightly and the receipt on the bag was clearly marked "No Cilantro, No Peanuts." Came home and found peanuts in all three of our dishes. One of our children is severely allergic to peanuts. We had to be extra careful not to mix food/utensils during dinner. Back down to 2 stars.
We were planning on Vietnamese for Valentine's Day dinner. Our toddler had trouble going to bed, so we left the house at 8:40. Turns out our go-to place was closed because of equipment failure, and another place we looked at didn't pick up the phone. I remembered my friend mentioning this new place, so we decided to check it out as it's only a few minutes away from our house.
It had a clean atmosphere inside and the employees were welcoming. We ordered two vermicelli noodles, 1 pho soup, and a peach boba to go. The food came out quickly as they are a semi-fast food joint (think Cafe Rio or Mod Pizza).
The vermicelli was filling and really yummy. Even though the egg rolls weren't freshly cooked, they were warm and tasty. Pho soup was pretty good too. Boba wasn't really that special, but I don't like boba in general and usually only drink the juice part. The juice was okay.
Overall, I would give 4.5 stars for food and service. I am glad we have a good Vietnamese place close by. The reason for the 3 stars is because when we picked up the food, the cashier was helping put the food together. She was visibly busy and flustered (they ran out of noodles and apologized that it was slow), but she didn't take her gloves off when she checked us out. Touching our credit card, the phone, touchscreen that everyone touches to sign with the gloves that she handled the food with. With some more strict safety guidelines, this could be a 4.5-5...

We ordered spring rolls, wontons, a bahn mi, and a vermicelli bowl.
Spring rolls reallt big and good flavors. The sauce it comes with is not what most restaurants have. It is peanut sauce, but has sweet chili or something in it. I found myself missing the more popular sauce.
Wontons Really good! Just cream cheese and that sweet sauce. If wontons are good enough, I never use the sauce and these were great!
Bahn Mi With pork, this sandwich is AMAZING! The pork tastes extremely high-quality and almost a charred taste like a good steak has. I am amazed at how delicious the pork it. Its the best I've had, anywhere. The rest of the sandwich is pretty good too, although I wish there were more veggies and fewer noodles. Should've gotten it without jalapeño.
Vermicelli Bowl Delicious bowl. Again, especially with the pork. Everything else in the bowl is pretty standard (but still taste). Really good...
Read moreI stopped by Cafe Trang just before they closed after my dinner plans fell apart. They were very kind about needing to get prepped ingredients back out for us and I was really grateful for that! We ordered takeout so we could get in and out without them waiting for us to leave and I have to say they are the perfect model of how takeout should be. They had the limes, Jalapeno and bean sprouts packaged separate in a plastic bag, there were chopsticks and eating utensils as well as napkins ready to go and they served the broth and meat in separate containers. As I poured the broth in with the meat I could watch the meat cook before my eyes which was something I've never experienced with pho. The food itself was fantastic too! The cherry on top was that the prices were around $9-$10 for a large pho and that was more than enough for leftovers. I can't wait to go back for some more pho and to try a bubble tea...
