I ordered a pizza for delivery, 1/2 sausage, 1/2 BBQ pizza with chicken and mushrooms. $45. I used the preferred online ordering method.
1/2 BBQ Chicken, 1/2 Sausage. That's what was on the menu I ordered from. It's what was on the receipt. It's all I ever saw when ordering online.
But apparently, I got pineapple on it because that's the "default BBQ." Pineapple. Seriously?
To make it clear, even that's true, that's not obvious in the "preferred online delivery method" set up for ordering online unless you deliberately scroll past the option to go half/half to carefully read the description of what the word "BBQ" means specifically at this restaurant.
More realistically, if you order a half/half, ordering it through their preferred provider displays pineapple as an extra, like you'd expect anywhere else.
I didn't have the option to unselect pineapple to begin with. Even if I knew ahead of time that the BBQ came with pineapple by default, I literally could not unselect that option. It wasn't selected in the first place. So why should I be expected to magically know to go back out of the actual menu item I was trying to order to go find a detailed description of the word BBQ to learn that the store owner thinks "BBQ" means Hawaiian. Even knowing this, how do I communicate through the app that I want the pineapple taken off if the option's not selected in the first place?
I tried calling several times to see if I could get the order corrected. No answer.
I literally drove back to explain what happened.
From my perspective, all I wanted was a barbecue pizza with chicken and mushrooms like I always get at other pizza places, and that the store must have gotten the order wrong.
So like a good business man, the owner chose to get into an argument with me when I insisted on keeping the mistake pizza for all the trouble.
If it's not clear:
Other times I've had this issue, that's the courtesy: the restaurant delivers a replacement for free for the inconvenience. This is true whether it's pizza or not -- if the restaurant makes a mistake, they deliver you the corrected order for free. And the reason is because the customer made a specific, expensive order and it's on the restaurant to get that right. A customer ordering for delivery and paying a premium for it should not have to drive back to your restaurant if there's an issue they need to get corrected.
But apparently, to this store owner, if a customer drives all the way back to the store because no one would answer the phone, apparently the customer is actually "taking advantage" of the store for insisting on keeping the first pizza.
To the owner directly: if someone thinks your pizza is worth enough to spend the time to drive back to talk to you (undoing the value of getting it delivered), don't spit in their face by telling them "It's none of the customer's business" that you don't answer your phone and that "the customer is taking advantage of you" by insisting on keeping a pizza you guys are just going to throw away. If you had actually bothered answering your phone, you wouldn't have even had the chance to take it back, and your only option to correct the issue would have been to replace it for free.
Why should I give it back when I had to go back b/c you won't answer your phone? you made a poor excuse for why you put The Meme Topping™ on my pizza the only thing you as the owner can safely do with the old one is throw it away?
Is the only person whose time and money are valuable yours?
But I guess the owner "doesn't need customers like me." These are all things the owner said to my face.
I'm not a business man, but I think the cost of a lost pizza is not worth ignoring and then directly insulting a customer who just wanted his favorite pizza order at a new place. All I expected was to be able to actually customize my pizza like I can anywhere else. Instead I got told off by some self-important jerk who thinks their customers should have to pay more to beg and grovel for the privilege of having a worse customer experience...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of visiting Rock and Crust Pizza in American Fork. I have found my new go-to pizza spot! The restaurant is new, clean, and inviting, with a warm and welcoming atmosphere. From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with genuine smiles and friendly service, setting the tone for a great dining experience. When it comes to the pizza, this place truly shines. You can taste the difference with the dough, which is made fresh daily. The mozzarella cheese is of the highest quality, and the tomato sauce strikes a perfect balance—robust yet soft, with herbal flavors that enhance, not overwhelm, the overall taste. I ordered the pepperoni pizza and cheese bread, as I always do, to set a baseline. If a pizzeria cannot perfect the pepperoni pizza, I find that more complex pizzas are usually disappointing. Fortunately, Rock and Crust passed the test with flying colors. The pizza crust had the ideal firmness and softness, offering a delightful crunch without feeling tough. Every bite was a perfect harmony of flavors—the sauce, cheese, and toppings coming together to create a delicious, unforgettable experience. The cheese bread was also fantastic—the dough and cheese complemented each other perfectly, neither overpowering the other, creating a balanced, flavorful bite with each piece. To top it off, the price is more than reasonable for the quality and caliber of the pizza. It’s a hidden gem in a sea of pizza places that often fall short. For me, Rock and Crust Pizza is the perfect choice for casual meals or parties, and I can’t wait to return. It is truly a diamond in the rough, standing head and shoulders above the...
Read moreI waited to write my review until the morning after. Was this place going to give me that antacid post pizza experience? The answer is a resounding NO! I kept waiting for that post pizza overly full stomach feeling. It never came. The initial pleasantly satisfied with the experience and taste never wavered.
Also - the most important item - is the tomato sauce acidic? Again, NO! I don’t eat sauce I don’t personally make anymore for this reason and end up ordering white pizza because of it. My husband told me to try it and I was hesitant. The balance of sweetness and acid with pure tomato flavor (not canned, processed, or overly chefed) was delicious. Unlike many other places it didn’t give that metallic, acidic, overly herbaceous aftertaste. You know the one ….
We had the cheese bread and a 1/2 Margarita 1/2 Club pizza. Everything was EXCELLENT! I don’t like cracker crust pizza and prefer thick bread crust but it’s too heavy for me now. I don’t know how their freshly made house dough gives me the taste of the bread with a crusty bottom that’s thin and light yet satisfying with the flavor thin crust pizza typically lacks. My husband who has Italian heritage loves the pizza. It took him back to flavors in his childhood. I wanted to try the club and it reminded me of a less pretentious CPK creation. Simple lettuce and homemade ranch on top was everything I was looking for.
