I recently visited Luscious Dumplings with high expectations, especially given its Michelin Bib Gourmand 2021 recognition. My primary motivation was to enjoy some dumplings and Chinese cuisine conveniently located near Disneyland. The restaurant is indeed a short walk from Disneyland, making it a seemingly convenient choice.
However, my experience was far from exceptional. The restaurant was crowded during dinner time, and finding a table was a bit of a challenge. We even had to awkwardly stand by a table, waiting for its occupants to finish and vacate. This already set a less-than-pleasant tone for the evening.
We ordered a variety of dishes, including Steamed Pork XLB soup dumplings, Boiled Chive & Shrimp dumplings, lotus root salad appetizer, Meat Sauce Rice Bowl, Ginger Chicken Noodle Meatless, and Sesame Noodles. Despite the extensive menu, the food turned out to be mediocre at best. The incident involving finding a hair in one of our dishes was addressed by the staff, but not promptly. While they did replace the dish, the delay was notable.
One notable disappointment was the presentation of the Steamed Pork XLB soup dumplings. Instead of being served properly, they were crammed into a black plastic to-go container, even though we were dining in the restaurant. This made it inconvenient because, as we pulled one dumpling away from another, it would tear, and the soup would spill out.
Moreover, the prices were on the higher side, considering the overall quality of the food. The combination of the average taste, crowded atmosphere, and the incident with the hair left me with a less-than-satisfactory impression of Luscious Dumplings. While it might have the Michelin Bib Gourmand distinction, my personal experience did not live up to the hype, making it difficult to justify a...
Read moreI recently visited Chubby Dumpling and unfortunately had a disappointing experience. The establishment appeared to lack proper organization and management, which affected both the atmosphere and service. The staff seemed unprofessional, with two of the employees behaving in a disruptive manner, making loud noises, and engaging in casual banter while preparing food. This not only created an uncomfortable environment but also hindered the efficiency of the kitchen.
Additionally, one of the staff members was noticeably rude to customers, informing them in a blunt and unprofessional manner that it would take 25-30 minutes to prepare their food. This discouraged potential customers from ordering and negatively impacted the overall dining experience.
The food itself was underwhelming, with a bland and unappetizing taste, which was further compounded by the long wait times. While I understand that preparing food can take time, the disorganization and lack of focus from the team only seemed to make the process longer and more chaotic.
The restaurant's cleanliness also left much to be desired, with trash accumulating for a prolonged period. It was clear that proper management and training were lacking. I would highly recommend that Chubby Dumpling consider improving their internal operations by hiring a manager to oversee the team, ensuring that customer service, cleanliness, and food quality are consistently maintained.
Overall, I believe this establishment could benefit from more structured leadership and better training to provide a more positive experience for both...
Read moreTried pork potstickers and crab meat xiao long bao but both are disappointing
First and foremost - Even thought I ordered as dine-in, but the staff packed the food in paper box that caused condensation onto the food ):
Pork Potstickers Skin is crispy but they could have been more generous with filling to call it potstickers rather than gyoza. The filling is also a bit too peppery for my taste.
Crab meat xiao long bao There is a subtle seafood sweetness which is a nice touch. However - the filling may have been too mushy and bouncy, it was textured like a meat ball rather than xiao long bao filling.
It is packed in paper box despite it was meant for dine in, and by the time I finished the potsticker and ready to dig in, those xiao long bao has became too soggy because of the condensation ):
The worst part - overcrowded the food box with xiao long bao, and it became unavoidable to tear xiao long bao skin apart when I was trying to separate each of them. Why pack eight when your food container can do 6 pieces just fine ?
Service They are using pump style dispensers that are meant for thicker like BBQ/Tomato sauces for vinegar and soy that are more watery. It creates a lot of mess for me. I saw another customer had the same problem.
Suggestions: serve xiao long bao in 6 pcs to avoid over-crowding and with a more friendly pricing (: improve the portion and quality of the filling serve vinegar and soy in bottles rather than pump...
