Stayed here for the first time for 4 nights over Thanksgiving week. The hotel lobby is cute but that is where the charm ends. It is a super loud hotel, avoid the 1st floor near the lobby. Even with the quiet please signs on the door, housekeeping yells to each other down the hall where the supply closet is. The water that comes out the sink is cloudy and undrinkable. They put 2 water bottles in the room but they cost $6 each. No iron or ironing board in the rooms, just a steamer. No drawers for clothes just cubbies under the TV. Sink is in the same room as shower making it hard for a family to get ready in the morning, not a huge deal just a matter of convenience. 15-20 minute walk to front gates Disneyland security. Meh cleanliness. I wipe down a room when we arrive and the phone and tabletops left gunk on the wipes. Nothing huge just not the cleanest. Decent water pressure in shower, no lotion in room, no coffee maker in room. Theres a kettle and instant coffee packets with bad quality coffee. Parking is $30 a day, ample parking and good sized spots. Complaint ahead- You have to ask for housekeeping which we did at the end of the 2nd day of our stay. We asked they give us fresh towels, take out garbage, and give us a roll of TP. When we got back to the room in the next evening there were 4 towels stacked on the TV cabinet. All the dirty towels were still on the bathroom floor, none of the garbages had been taken out, and no roll of TP. But they did take our reusable hello kitty bag, 4 ponchos, and bag full of groceries that were sitting in the corner of the room and threw those away. When we brought this up to the front desk via phone they called us back after a few minutes and told us that housekeeping assured them they didnt throw anything like that away by mistake. My husband mentioned that housekeeping didn't throw away any of the garbage from the 2 garbage cans in the room (plus 2 bags we had filled of our own) or collect the dirty towels on the floor. All housekeeping did was lay a few towels on the cabinet and took the reusable bag, ponchos, and bag of groceries that were in the corner. Instead of taking responsibility for the mistake they said they can't know if we locked the door or if housekeeping came into our room. Sure, totally believable that we left our room door open and instead of the thief taking our laptop they took a reusable bag and groceries. It would have gone a long way to just admit that something happened by mistake instead of pushing blame on us. I did get annoyed when we discussed this again at the front desk upon check out and had to point out that housekeeping did in fact go into our room as we got new towels and I can show them all the bags of garbage that were not collected and the mound of old towels they left on the floor. At that point they stopped with the denials. We obviously left frustrated not just with the missing items but the lack of responsibility they took for the mistake. As frequent disneyland visitors this is not a hotel we will be...
Read moreSo to begin this review, the hotel is located within a 15 minute walk of the Disney parks which is great, it's also a relatively affordable option. This is a Best Western property if you weren't aware. I did not use the Wi-Fi or any amenities during my stay.
The staff were friendly and helpful, and the lobby of the hotel was very nice and well laid out. The hotel has two towers and a gated parking area. The hotel is decorated in a mixture of Disney and a sort of generic California theme and a lot of the interior design seems to be fairly cheap. The hotel has lots of noticeable wear and tear such as scuff marks, peeling elevator interior wraps, card reader doors that aren't entirely secure, furniture damage etc. Not a deal breaker but still not exactly inviting.
The room was fine, it was a double queen and the beds had soft clean linens and were comfortable enough; they appeared to be full queen mattresses as well. I mention this because many hotels seem to be offering queens but providing fulls. The dresser doesn't have drawers though which I felt was an odd choice. There's a small closet and a little nook with your coffee and tea station. The dresser contains a refrigerator and has a large TV on it. The remote did not work to change the channels during our stay and I didn't bother trying to get it fixed. The HVAC worked pretty well as well, standard mini split type.
Now we get to an issue that seems to be common amongst other reviewers...the shower. The water pressure is abysmal. Yes, it is enough to shower with but it's not great. The water also changed temperatures quite a few times during my shower. In addition, the provided shampoo, body wash and conditioner options each have a different scent. Hear me out here...they each smell good individually but you exit the shower smelling like an entire aisle of Target shampoo. The shampoo and conditioner should have the same scent.
I did not receive housekeeping services during my stay and honestly...this is my biggest frustration with the hospitality industry right now. The price of housekeeping is included in the price you pay for your room whether you receive it or not, every hotel chain uses their COVID protocols as an excuse for requiring that you request housekeeping rather than just providing it like they would pre-covid. If you're going to make housekeeping a "request-only" service then I should have the daily price of housekeeping refunded if I opted not to use the service. Every segment of every industry is milking the middle class for everything they're worth and it's incredibly frustrating (revolt).
Would I stay here again? Maybe...if I couldn't find a better deal elsewhere. It's not a bad hotel, I've definitely stayed in worse, but it also isn't great;...
Read moreWe were so excited to stay at this location and be within walking distance to the parks. We visit the Disneyland resort about every 2-3 months and have always wanted to stay here. To say we were let down would be an understatement. Interestingly enough we ended up in room 705 and an earlier review left had the same one. We encountered similar issues and then some, even though the hotel responded saying they would resolve them.
When we first arrived the front desk didn’t greet us and after providing info there was a lack of information. They said the room number quickly, then seemed to be annoyed I asked to clarify the room number as they didn’t even take the time to write the room number on the room key holder where it’s typically given.
Once we got to the room it was an even worse experience. There were mosquitoes and drain flies all over the bathroom and in the sink. Thankfully I was able to take care of the mosquitoes after about a half an hour but the drain flies persisted throughout our stay. The shower was also quite confusing, it had no hot or cold markings and no matter where you seemed to turn the handle it would fluctuate between hot and cold. I also know the water wasn’t an issue with just our room as at checkout two families ahead of us were complaining about the water temperature in their rooms.
We informed the front desk and asked if we could change rooms or if there was anything that could be done about it and they said they’d let me know what they could do. When we would get back from a long day at the parks the sink would be filled more drain flies. Unfortunately that was the reply we got for the four nights we were there. They were working on a solution that never came.
Moving past the bathroom, the furniture was scratched, scuffed and pretty banged up. We understand that wear and tear is normal and not always the easiest to maintain with families coming in and out. The issue arises when you factor in the cost of staying here (including the $35 parking fee, which is higher than what we typically pay at other hotels). There were also signs for ice and vending machines on our floor but the spot where they’d be was empty and had another sign indicating they were on different floors. Which at a lower cost hotel is perfectly fine and understandable to be walking down or up a flight of stairs for ice. Here it felt like just another thing in the list of frustrations.
On a positive note the rooms are quiet and that can be hard to find when staying near the Disneyland resort.
As a family who travels to Anaheim/Disney frequently we can’t recommend staying here in its current state. There is a lot of promise and the location is great. The cost of staying here does not match the...
