I recently had the pleasure of dining at the Craftsman Bar at Disneyland's Grand Californian Hotel, and I must say, it was an absolutely fantastic experience. From the moment we stepped foot into the bar, we were greeted with warm smiles and excellent service.
Let's start with the food. We ordered the shredded beef nachos and the Margherita pizza, and both dishes were simply outstanding. The shredded beef nachos were loaded with flavorful beef, perfectly melted cheese, and a delightful combination of toppings. Each bite was a burst of deliciousness, and we couldn't get enough.
As for the Margherita pizza, it was a true culinary delight. The crust was thin and crispy, the tomato sauce was tangy and flavorful, and the mozzarella cheese was perfectly melted and gooey. It was a simple yet satisfying dish that left us craving for more.
Now, let me take a moment to commend our waiter, Justin. He provided us with exceptional service throughout our dining experience. From his friendly and welcoming demeanor to his attentiveness to our needs, Justin truly went above and beyond to make our visit memorable. He was knowledgeable about the menu, offered great recommendations, and ensured that we had a seamless dining experience. His professionalism and genuine care for his guests were truly commendable.
The Craftsman Bar itself had a charming and cozy atmosphere. The rustic decor and comfortable seating created a welcoming ambiance, making it the perfect place to relax and enjoy a meal. The staff, including Justin, was attentive and friendly, further enhancing our overall dining experience.
I highly recommend visiting this establishment, and if you're lucky, you might have the pleasure of being served by Justin, who will undoubtedly make your experience even more enjoyable. It's a five-star...
Read moreI ordered the Wagyu Gouda Burger with no modifications. Perhaps it is my fault in ordering this, because I was wanting to indulge (rarely as it is) in a good cheeseburger, but I found out later that this is not your typical cheeseburger. This restaurant used to have delicious cheeseburgers (been coming to this resort for a good 17 years) and I didn’t think twice about ordering a burger again. To be fair, I was rushing and didn’t read all the details of the ingredients. If I had, I would have asked for modifications. When I took my first bite, it had an odd flavor - sort of like dishwashing liquid (not that I’ve consumed that, but I can imagine by the smell). It had a sweetness that I simply didn’t desire in a “cheeseburger”. I wondered if it was the pickles, as they were placed on TOP of the bun, to be added once served. They were in fact, sweet pickles. I took them out. The flavor I didn’t love remained. After further inspection of the ingredients, I believe that flavor must have been from the “Preserved Lemon Aioli”. And so I had found the dishwashing liquid taste - lemon! I have never put lemon on my cheeseburger, so it was definitely new to me.
The fries were new to me as well, being flat, almost like potato chips, but still fries. They were okay for me.
I usually order the nachos when I come here and they have nearly always been delicious. I will not be ordering the burger again. I will stick to the nachos or the Avocado Panzanella, which I had last time. It was delicious, although I did leave the sourdough bread croutons mostly behind.
Bottom line - if you or your family are hoping for a typical cheeseburger, even an upscale one, be advised that that it may be unlike anything else you’ve had. I will stick to cheeseburgers without lemon - but to...
Read moreWe visited Disneyland on Monday, August 21st. About mid-day, we started to plan for dinner and grabbed an 8:15pm reservation at the GCH Bar/Grill - we had to put down a $20 "don't show up fee" to secure this. I also mentioned we were celebrating my wife's birthday. The Disneyland app prompted me to check in at 7:55, which I did and we were actually there. We watched several "walk-in's" get told about the restaurant and the difference between it and the bar and then get seated right away. I walked up to the desk at 8:10pm and asked if we could get seated and that's when she "checked us in". We got seated literally right by the pool - fine, we were hungry. My wife ordered the grilled Salmon Salad at $28 and I ordered the Margherita Pizza (They're supposedly good at these "artisanal" pizzas) - food came relatively quick. The Salmon Salad was decent according to my wife. The Pizza was massive......BUT....globbed with cheese in the center. It was 1/2" thick of cheese in the 10" center of the pizza, but the pizza was about 16" in diameter. Really odd. Then we got to wait the shift change/break of our server....we finished our one drink we got at the beginning of our meal and didn't see anyone till way after we had finished our meal. A different server. She brought us a box for 1/2 my pizza and finally refills. Then, we didn't see a server again for a while when the first guy re-appeared. We had the only dessert - the $10 sundae. It came in a 12oz clear solo cup. It was terrible. 1/2 cream the other 1/2 fudge and 10% vanilla ice cream. No mention of the birthday we were celebrating. It was sad for a $74...
