Inside Disneyland, a part of New Orlean's Square, this quick service restaurant was popular as it had just opened a month before we visited. We can't say anything about what the inside was like as we couldn't go in, but it looked like a small dining area. Most of the room was for ordering. There were 2 areas outside for eating. 1 really big area with decorative fabric hanging for shade and to catch falling leaves. The other area was very small. No shade and not kept very well.
We ordered through the Disneyland app. It was easy and simple. You just choose your items and select a time. Once your time approaches, the app will notify you. Once you are close in range, the app will let you hit the IM HERE button, and they prepare your meal.
We had a bit of a hiccup. I was waiting for 15 minutes before I politely tapped on the window to make sure our order went through. The Castmember Stephanie was so polite and apologized profusely. It was being held up because they ran out of Lemon Beignets, and she didn't know when they would be ready from the production line. After another 5 minutes, I asked if we could get the drink we had ordered as it was extremely hott, which she gladly did as well as a 2nd drink on the house. 5 minutes later, she gave us our meal without the beignet. She asked for my name and copied our confirmation number down with it and said we could come back later to pick it up or get a refund, whichever we chose. By all means, this was not Stephanie's fault! She gave amazing, kind, and magical service.
I ordered the 7 Greens Gumbo with Chicken and Sausage. It was to die for!!! Straight out of the Other Side. Lol! I finished it all, and it's rare I do that. My partner ordered the Muffuletta Sandwich. He loved it! As I was finishing my meal, I just happened to look up and make eye contact with Stephanie, and she waved me over. The Beignets were available. Yoooooo!!! WHAT! DID! I! JUST! EXPERIENCE! It was phenomenal! This is not your everyday beignet. It's a traditional one. The flavor and texture are different than one you would normally get at other restaurants or food carts.
Here is my only true complaint. If you order through the app, your food is presented to you in To-Go Containers and bagged at a drive-thru like window. If you wait in line and order inside, you get it presented on a plate and trays. Why!? Literally, everyone that picked up their food sat immediately at a table and ate right then and there like the others that ordered inside. Why is disney wasting To-Go Containers and the money to buy them. Why are people ordering in person more special and getting real place setting over the mobile order individuals? Also, our seating was the smaller unkempt area with no shade, while the in person ordering individuals got to sit inside and in the cover patio area with live entertainment.
We will be back again, and next time, we will order in person so we can get the...
Read moreI had the opportunity to visit Tiana's Palace the day after it opened as I was in Disneyland for my 30th birthday. The location was obviously brand new enough that the mobile order pickup option was disabled periodically throughout the day, so if you wanted to try it out, you had to wait in line. Especially because it's so difficult to get restaurant reservations in advance for Blue Bayou, you can imagine my excitement that another Cajun/creole-inspired menu was to be offered at the parks that was hopefully more accessible!
My sisters and I happened to be in the New Orleans Square area during lunch time and considering how long the line was when we passed the area around dinner time the night prior, we decided to take the chance and wait in line. Let me tell you - it was worth it for me!! We got through the line pretty quickly and there was plenty of seating available. They also had Tiana walking around the dining area greeting people in-character and it created such a nice welcoming environment!
Regarding the food, it seems as though other peoples' reviews have had a spectrum of seasoning disappointments when it comes to the entrees, but I will say that was not the case for my experience! I ordered the Gulf Shrimp and Grits, and I have to say this is now quite possibly my favorite thing I have ever ordered in Disneyland - they really hit it out of the park with this one! The cheesy grits were good so well and had the most delicious flavor and smooth texture. Also, the shrimp were executed perfectly, so every bite paired with the grits left me wanting more and more! I did try a bite of the cornbread and it was pretty standard cornbread, so not anything to write home about but still enjoyable. Now, one item that I might say is worth trying would be the House-filled Beignet! It is filled with a lemon pie filling and dipped in a lemon glaze. It tasted bright and fresh! I would say maybe try it at least once, unless you're a Disneyland Beignet purist, in which case this may seem like a little bit too much of a departure from the classic deliciousness of a simple beignet from Mint Julep Bar or Royal Street Veranda.
I would say, on the whole, that my experience at this restaurant will warrant another visit when I return to...
Read moreThis was our first time checking out Tiana's Palace. I wasn't able to get a mobile order time - what time do people start scheduling those times?? I started early in the day and there were no available times - and I continued to check throughout the day - and was totally unsuccessful!
So we just stood in the long line outside of the restaurant, and fortunately it moved pretty quickly.
This restaurant is cafeteria style so you want to know what you want because you move through the line pretty quickly with cast members asking for your order. You have plenty of time while waiting in line to pull up the menu on the Disney app and decide what you want.
We ordered the muffuletta sandwich, which came with red beans and rice and some pickled veggies. Everything was tasty - my only comment would be that I wish the red beans were hotter. They were just kind of lukewarm. And just be aware that there is a bit of spice in the beans.
We also had the House Gumbo which we really enjoyed a lot! And the temp was warmer than the red beans. The gumbo had a lot of meat - chicken and andouille sausage. And the spiciness in this dish builds as you eat it. It's real tasty!
The cast members were all very nice! We had very nice 'service with a smile' from Leticia!
We look forward to coming back to try other dishes!!
