TLDR; I do not recommend this restaurant. The food is supbar, and it's a waste of both your park time and money to eat here.
When I originally booked our afternoon reservation, I thought we would be eating outside, due to the name 'River Belle Terrace,' and it not being specified as indoors. Dissapointingly, we were escorted into the restaurant without being given an option. I'm not sure if this was due to a separate event or if this is their normal operating procedure to prepare for Fantasmic evening showings, but that should have been clear in the booking process. If Disney employees can deconstruct a stage in under an hour for World of Color than the wait staff should be more efficient and not need over 3 hours to put napkins on tables in preparation for evening dining experiences. Seperately, I'm not sure how they justify 75 dollars a person for their special viewing dinner service with how mid the food is and, since patio is flat, the majority of people who pay won't even have a good sightline for Fantasmic.
The interior decor and themeing is lackluster and hopefully this is next in line to get gutted and rehabed when Tiana's Palace is completed late 2023. The inside portion of the restaurant is more akin to a shoebox and there's no bathroom inside or nearby which is incomprehensible for a sit down restaurant. The service itself was passable but fairly minimal despite how much easier it should be for the staff to be attentive in such a small area with so few guests.
Lastly and most importantly, the food itself wins the award for being the most abysmal I've ever had in a Disney park. The menu originally appealed to me because it seemed like elevated comfort food, but the execution is just not there. We received our food a little too quickly and it wasn't very warm. I suspect they bulk prepare or reheat things in the back and plate it, as opposed to it being freshly made to order. The limited menu offerings and small table size don't lend themselves well to ordering multiple items and sharing them.
The wedge salad my mom ordered decent despite being small and more apetizer sized. The Skillet Briscuit macaroni I ordered was overwhelmingly heavy and bland, with cube chunks of flavorless, hard, and over cooked briscut. My dad, who will eat pretty much anything without complaint and hates wasting food, struggled with and ultimately didnt finish his Burnt Ends Grilled Cheese Sandwich, which he considers to be the worst thing he's ever eaten.
On the whole, while we've been really dissapointed with Disneyland's food offerings compared to Disney California Adventure and the Walt Disney World parks, this takes the figurative cake (because we absolutely did not want to gamble on the dessert menu). Do yourself, your tastebuds, and your wallets a favor and eat literally...
Read moreSO disappointed. The food is fine, it’s by no means bad buts it’s so ridiculously overpriced for the mediocre quality. We paid $200 to have a lovely meal and paid extra to be able to enjoy said meal on the terrace during the fantasmic show. We had a reservation at 8:00 that we showed up on time to. We were not seated until at least 8:15. The service was fine not bad but once again nothing to write home about. SAVE YOUR MONEY!!!!! We were constantly rushed through the meal, from our waitress bringing our entrees out quite literally minutes after our appetizers were served, and we were “gently reminded” after being seated for 45 minutes that the bill was there anytime we were ready to pay it. For $70 a person I don’t think it’s asking for the holy grail to be able to sit and enjoy a meal without being rushed. NEVER coming back here and definitely spending that money on something better. They literally turn the gas lamps off and pretend they don’t know that there’s two tanks per lamp just to freeze you out. When we asked for a top up on water before paying the bill we were served water in a paper to go cup. Ridiculous !!!! Don’t waste your money !!!! This could have been such an amazing experience but I guess disney’s newest business model is sacrifice the experience of some for the enjoyment of others. We were told to vacate due to the next seating coming in and them being closed. How can you be closed if you have another seating coming in ?? Also it totally doesn’t matter that we were seated late and didn’t get our full experience because we have to leave so someone else can get their full experience at the expense of ours ??? No thank you. Never wasting my money on this MASSIVE disappointment again.
EDIT: a VERY kind cast member (who was definitely not the manager, whole other kettle of fish there) after patiently listening to our concerns individually offered to walk us himself to the always full Peter Pan ride and get us on lickity split which he did !! He also offered to get me a fast pass to ride space mountain !!! Ridiculously grateful thank you so much for improving our entire experience. In my personal opinion it’s a shame that the situation had to be salvaged at all but it was...
Read moreWe ate at this restaurant during the Thanksgiving weekend on Friday night. As my husband.and I and our daughter age 9 entered to be seated the host was not very polite and it felt like he.put us.in the worst seating with traffic on either side of us and he acted.like he didn't care. We had a pre arranged birthday celebration for our daughter and the atmosphere was not very welcoming with smiles.. The waitress acted like she didn't want to be working there which did not make.us feel good. This was unusual for Disney. The waitress appoligized for the bland tasting.food and said that the restaurant used to be a cafeteria style and now they were charging seperate $ 45.00 meals for adults. Our daughter had mac-n-cheese for.$22.00 which put me.in an off mood from the start. Total rip off! The food was.very bland.and even though the tickets to the famtasmic show were worth the expense.the food was awful for how it tasted.and it left bad feeling.in our stomachs. The desserts were very good though but the main course was something I would never want to eat again. I had shrimp skewers and steak. The shirmp tasted dry and old. The steak had a taste worse than hospital food...sorry. The customer service reservation person had made a mistake the day before with cancelling our original reservation at the Blue Bayou and with a days notice they gave my daughters birthday celebration a new.reservation at this restaurant. I was so disappointed that our original reservation that I had called in two weeks earlier was cancelled. We ate at this place to also get tickets to the Fantasmic show. To our surprise the customer service people showed up at our reservation and gave us.some autographed photos of Rapunzel and Micky and Minni us some fun cookbooks and apologized for our trouble.which was nice. After dinner we should have gotten our money back as it was offered to us however customer service.showed.up and apologized. I thought that was a.nice gesture but I should have taken our money back from the bland not so fresh...
